Re: Tap Water

If there is the smallest amount of mold in the water, do you want it pounded into your lungs all night? If the brain eating amoeba is in the tap water, and in some places it is, (yes inside the US as well) while the manufacturer promises that bacteria and viruses can not be carried over from the ta...

Probably needed a break anyway. My patience with the snarkiness was wearing thin and I was too tempted to tell the offenders to just go FO.
That's unfair.

Re: Emergency help needed

I would probably cut a piece of clean coffee filter for using one night. that's worth a try, but my thought is that it'd be too restrictive of airflow. Agreed. Supposedly, too much air restriction in a filter can cause the machine to overheat, even though it still supplies enough air. Even one nigh...

Re: Power failure=Suffocate?

What about mouth tapers with nasal masks? Most people wake up when it happens or they rip the mask off, force their mouth open, etc. What we don't know is how many "died quietly in their sleep," because they never post here after death. If the power comes back on, nobody might realize the power was...

Re: Power failure=Suffocate?

Been using my Resmed S10 for about 2 months. I sleep about 8 hrs a nite and my AHI went from 78 to less than 1. I use the Phillips Amara View full face mask. What happens if the power goes out? Could I suffocate? Should I buy a computer UPS system or set up a power failure alarm to wake me up! Than...

Re: Emergency help needed

Use it anyway. The filter is there to protect the machine, not the user. A few days or even a week won't hurt too bad.

Use a little extra caution to keep dust away from the air inlet, such as dusting the table before sitting your machine there.

Re: Distilled water in foreign countries

Also, if you can drink the tap water, it's OK to use in your humidifier. Just dump the water and clean the tank every morning. Keep an eye out for crud buildup in the tank, and clean or replace as necessary.

The only thing it might harm is your humidifier tank, and those are replaceable.

Re: Distilled water in foreign countries

Yes of course, I'm more concerned about the bit that says, deionized water is corrosive and can cause damage to tooth enamel and soft tissues. The idea that deionized (DI) water is hazardous to teeth or your health is complete BS, even if you drink it, much less if you put it in your humidifier. Th...

Re: Cpap shutting off in hotels.

Has anyone had any kind of problems with their CPAP shutting off in hotels? I have no problems at home but whenever I go out of town and need to stay in a hotel, it will run for a little while then it will shut off and then I will turn it on again only to do this over and over every 15-20 min. But ...

Re: Help With CMS50E

Hi All, I am attempting a self diagnosis of sleep apnea using a CMS50E I just bought. It was suggested to me that I try using a PO to see if I had obvious issues with SpO2 and pulse at night. I purchased the CMS50E after reading many reviews online that this was a low cost alternative that worked w...

Re: SoClean 2 Activating My CPAP

I'm skeptical the SoClean cleans anything but you wallet.

However, look in the useful links in my signature line at the bottom of this post and download the providers' manual for your CPAP machine and turn off autostart or smartstart or whatever ResMed calls it.

Basic conservation of matter science says that long term, the level of dust coming out of the hose is less than or equal to the dust coming in in the room air. Less whatever dust gets removed by the air filter. The dust coming out will be no worse than breathing regular room air. You might get an oc...

The levels of ozone needed to truly kill enough microbes to be useful would be far too DANGEROUS to be used anywhere but IN A LAB. No one is allowed to have these deadly levels of ozone in a home. In my opinion, SoClean is nothing but an expensive TOY--created only to capitalize on mental illness. ...

Re: filtered water versus distilled

If you use tap water, I do strongly recommend dumping the remaining water every morning. In addition to mineral deposits, distilled water helps reduce germ growth in your water as well. Germs can't multiply in 100% pure water. Germs require nutrients that are lacking in distilled water, but may be p...
