Re: Introduced my doctor to Sleepyhead
My sleep doc is a little unusual in that he knows how to access the clinical menu to change settings, but he was similarly enthralled by SleepyHead.

Re: PRS1 Auto Humidifier Not Using Water
Also don't forget (I know it sounds simplistic, but this is the sort of detail I overlook all the time) that if the knob got turned all the way to the left to "0," even if the humidity was previously set to 4, that turns the heater plate off. I've also found occasionally when I have torn down and th...

Re: PRS1 Auto Humidifier Not Using Water
If it's not heating/consuming water....why would you doubt it. Something is malfunctioning, and a connection is apparently broken somewhere. Nowadays, new stuff breaks with much greater frequency than did new stuff of the past. (except 80's GM vehicles, they were terrible ) Good luck troubleshootin...

Wait, what? That was a tipoff they were just making stuff up. Autoset is a ResMed product, not Philips.Thatgirl wrote:I was pretty ticked because over the phone they had assured me she was getting the "Latest Autoset machine by Philips."

Re: PRS1 Auto Humidifier Not Using Water
It doesn't take 20 minutes to check if the heater plate in a PR S1 humidifier is working. You can take out the water tank, turn on humidifier preheat mode, and hold your hand over the plate (don't touch it!). If the humidifier heater is working you will feel the plate start to throw off heat in abou...

Not to mention that I now have five years of data on my SD cards, although t's true I don't have as many channels nightly.

Lost 70 pounds, increased pressure.

Re: Requesting Copy of PSG: How Much Data?
Here's a very recent example: http://www.cpaptalk.com/viewtopic/t110915/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=110842&p=1063260&hilit=+DVDs#p1063260 Some records are worthwhile to have saved on USB drives or CDs or DVDs, but in the case of the sleep studies, I think it would be "overkill".......and there may be more ...

Re: Requesting Copy of PSG: How Much Data?
That was my vague recollection. On the other hand, when I asked (from a different provider, obviously!) for all of my mammograms in digital form I got them on a DVD with a built-in reader, so I wondered if that might be a possibility.

Requesting Copy of PSG: How Much Data?
I requested a copy of my PSG from the sleep lab and got back about 18 pages. It's got the charts, etc. What I didn't get, and was expecting to get, was all the data from the eight hours or so they monitored me. Is it worth going back to them and getting the whole damn file? I'm only collecting all m...

Re: Does it ever get any better?
My non-technical answer, since you're not asking about technical stuff, is that it took me about six weeks to get used to using xPAP at night. After about six weeks my data got a lot better, and more important, I started feeling a lot better. And then I improved more and more from there. Another imp...

Re: Dreamstation CPAP pro with humidifier and heated tube
Yes, an APAP can be set in CPAP mode, but the converse is not true, a machine that is only CPAP doesn't have an APAP mode. We thrifty types like to buy two machines in one.

Re: NPR article about insurance not wanting to pay for CPAP
The health insurance industry does not want to pay for your CPAP, nor your sleep studies. What they want is for you to go freaking DIE! Thats what I honestly believe about the insurance industry if you need to use your insurance for anything beyond a boo boo that your primary care doctor can handle...

Re: Wish me luck!
That was VERY easy!! They prescribed an auto pap, they told me what I would get before I even had time to ask anything. I said I wanted an Airsense 10 auto. They said, all our patients get these. (Titation is 6-10 btw) However, they do not have their own DME. (This is an all in one type service-- s...
