Re: ASV One Week Trial - Continuing Updates

Any clue as to why the machine had to trigger so many breaths after 5:00AM today? My daily reports always show a big dip in PTB an hour or so before I get up. As I go into lighter sleep and doze, I slip in and out of Stage 1 sleep and have many transitional central apneas. This may be happening to ...

Re: Why should I have a minimum air pressure?

kteague, you explained it perfectly. Thank you so much I think the reason I was confused too was because I was thinking if the mask is fairly snugged on a lower setting, why or how could there be more chance of a leak happening once the air pressure goes up to a higher number during sleep...thinkin...

Re: Last time you've seen any sleep professional? (poll)

Back on the original topic, I am trying to compile questions for my sleep doc follow up. The only thing I can come up with is "What about my O2 dropping even without flagged apneas?" Which involves my O2 monitoring. My AHI is <1...If my O2 is dropping I would assume it is lung function. It occurs d...

Re: Last time you've seen any sleep professional? (poll)

I was surprised but as I talk to people who are on Cpap, most show no interest in seeing their data. See! There we go again. "Most patients have no interest in data." Indeed most patients do not have an interest in data. This is the reason that DMEs typically supply only "bricks". It is ridiculous ...

Re: Why should I have a minimum air pressure?

The minimum is the minimum you need to keep the airway open and its lower to make it easier to exhale. If it is set too low you will feel like you are sucking hard on a tiny straw for air. Pugsy will probably have a better universal definition.

ASV therapy improves cardiac treadmill performance

Hey all, This last Friday I did my second treadmill cardiac stress test. I did my first one in 2006 and I gave out at 8 minutes. This time, I was dubious of my performance having had this darned cold for 6 weeks and so not getting out and walking and hiking as much as I do in the longer daylight of ...

Re: ASV One Week Trial - Starts Tonight

... Oh -- last night's data looks fabulous. AHI of 0.5 -- tidal volume and minute ventilation are in line. The ONE big difference I can see is that the average EPAP is lower than what I am using on the ventilator. Let's see what a couple more days say... This sounds encouraging! Hoping you find it ...

Re: Second night and woke up feeling stoned

Agree with the previous posters. You don't realize just how much sleep debt you have till you start getting some. Watch out for insomnia. Once you get a little sleep, its tempting to stay up late because you feel 'rested' compared to your previous status. It took me several months to get beyond 4.5 ...

Re: Would you be happy with a compliance only machine?

I only voted NO because there was no HELL NO option. This +++ I would never have gotten things working if I could not measure something and make changes. I still download mine every few days. I have a spreadsheet that I have updated since 8/1/2010 which was when I first realized something was wrong...

Re: Does sleep apnea affect hearing?

That is very interesting. My father died of super fast alzheimers, they said lewy body disease. But I know now after the fact and learning about OSA that he had severe obstructive sleep apnea. Many times I went to professional meeting with him and shared a motel room. He would snore loudly, and stop...

Re: Let's clear up some misinformation

That said, I really like my local DME reps. The corporate guy said he would not have even be trying to deal with me if the local reps had not told him they really liked me. So, it pays to be friendly and polite to everybody you deal with and to make friends if you can. As it stands, the actual cost ...

Re: Let's clear up some misinformation

There are definitely some billing differences. My sleep studies were billed to Cover Colorado for $2500 each, two of them Sleep study interpretation was billed at $600 each, two of them When I was presented with the bill (I have a $5000 deductible) I pointed out I would be paying for it. The sleep s...

Re: Does sleep apnea affect hearing?

I'm not sure about hearing, but you could be more alert and aware of what's going on around you - like turn signals. I hate it when I don't remember to turn the signal off. It makes me feel so old! I'm hoping that I'll eventually get that "more alert" feeling. That may be it. In fact, I bet it is.

Does sleep apnea affect hearing?

The new car has a bright and loud directional blinker. Today, I noticed I can clearly hear the blinker in my Neon. I have not driven it for a few months since getting the new car. My old girlfriend used to get a bit annoyed that I left the blinker on. Is it possible that sleep apnea can affect your ...

Ah, just a heads up, Just a heads up; its airing right now. Oh no, now his wife can't sleep because Eddie is no longer snoring.
