Re: AHI seems up and down

Overall AHI average is 7.59 since I started, 7.06 for the last 30 days, and 7.61 for the last 7 days. Not until you've explored a bit. AHI is too general to be of much use unless it's very low. How much of that is OA, CA, and hypopnea? If you can import your data into SleepyHead, Encore Basic, Onko...

Re: Need Some Smacking (Gently Please)

I was just thinking about a hat I saw at in a truck stop years ago. It had a tilt switch that triggered an alarm if your head didn't stay level, theoretically waking you before you drove your big rig through an orphanage. Now, I doubt that would work for you, Maddie, because your chair probably supp...

Actually, 4-20 means it was not set up. That's the default setting, and I wouldn't even use it as a starting point for self titration.

Re: getting a mask online

You need a prescription if you buy a complete mask. But you can buy all the "replacement" parts to make a complete mask without a prescription. Sometimes this will even save you some money. The downside of purchasing a mask this way is that you won't be able to return it if it doesn't work for you. ...

Re: At Max Frustration

Any suggestions? Read JohnBFisher's post in this thread: http://www.cpaptalk.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=59062&p=566558#p566558 He was using 25 cm H20 and managed to get the QFX to work, at least in part, by not following the recommendations about how tight the straps should be. John is a very friendly...

Re: Last Night Trying CPAP .... graphs included

During your OA clusters, your respiratory rate is extremely low. I've only see that in my own data when I meditate with my mask on. It confuses the bits out of my S9. The machine scores an enormous number of events, many of them OAs. I think it just doesn't know what to do when my RR rate goes below...

Re: What exactly am I supposed to feel if anything

I have this image of a hound dog with his head hanging out of the car window. Way more pressure than we can ever get with our machine (note the saliva spraying behind); but the doggie is simply groovin'. It's all perspective. Uh oh. Rover hasn't had a titration study to set his wind pressure. What ...

That's a bit too philosophical for me. I'd stick with SleepyHead.

Re: How often do you change your mask cushions?

I get about 8 months out of my cushions. One of these days I'll boil the old ones and see how much life they've got left in them. One problem with old cushions is that boiling will not remove scratches, dents, grooves. Bacteria can hide there unless you clean your mask every day. I received used FF ...

Thank you so very much, cosmo, BlackSpinner, Pugsy, GordieK, and Otter, for your replies! I'll be pursuing the at-home sleep test, and will PM some of this forum's trusted sellers for leads on equipment. They're not on the forum, but give http://SecondWindCPAP.com a try. Their customer service is a...

Re: Bathroom breaks - unplug hose or turn machine off?

Both. It's not critical to turn the machine off, but when you let the machine run open, it registers as a huge leak, and you may find this annoying when you try to check your leak line. Also, running wide open may shorten the life of the bearings slightly. I'm not at all sure that extra bit of wear ...

Re: Im new to the CPAP machine

I've been on this machine since 2-9-2013 and absolutely do not like the full mask it hurts my nose it makes noise at night when it starts to leak around the seal which wakes me up, A mask liner may help. Not only does it help with the seal and let your skin breathe a little, it also protects the cu...

Re: Need Some Smacking (Gently Please)

No smacks, just a nudge. You're almost there. You already know how important it is to get that mask on. You just need to overcome some small obstacles to completing a small task that has huge benefits. If you need more incentive, think of your family. I doubt your son is helping you because he is bo...

Re: First Night Results

Here's my stats from the last five days with my new machine. What do you think? Anything jump out at you? Minimum Pressure: 4.0 cmH20 Maximum Pressure: 20.0 cmH20 Pressure cmH20: Median: 9.0 95th percentile: 11.4 Maximum: 12.4 Obviously you're doing pretty well, but narrowing this range might help ...
