Re: 5 days so far...they said try to keep it on for 4hrs
Sometimes my body just wakes me up at 3 a.m. I just came out of REM, finished a dream or something. I feel wide awake, but I know will be tired if I don't try to go back to sleep. I watch a little tv with my mask ON, and then drift off again, or I will get up, go in the living room, watch tv until ...

Re: From Another Thread - A Personal Note
Dear Maddy, We both know that your disease is progressive. It will worsen - but your comfort needs to be addressed at all times. I can only imagine how frustrating it must be to have to rest and not do all the things that you would like to do. I wish that I could wave a magic wand and take away the...

Re: I am FREAKING THE DOG OUT!!!!
How strange! I sleep with my husband and 2 dogs. When I had my new mask, she just came and sniffed my face, looked at the mask, trying to decide how on earth to kiss me goodnight, so a small lick on my forhead sufficed and she settled down. Maybe your dog needs to know it's still you in there and n...

Re: From Another Thread - A Personal Note
Dear Maddy, I sure don't know enough about your disease to advise you, except for on one common sense issue. Sometimes I think that you may do too much in one day and then you are exhausted. Your disease is not going to let you do what exhausts me in a day without taking a double toll on you. So, m...

Re: Help Us Out...What do you think of Transcend travel CPAP?
"The manufacturer recommends replacing the HME filter on a weekly basis". I think that this alone could be expensive. Also, I like using nasal pillow masks and this only works with a nasal mask. I also don't like the fact that only compliance data is offered. I think that this would be alright if i...

Re: padacheek products
I just ordered the Swift FX barrel cover. I sometimes get little droplets of water inside of my nasal pillow and I didn't even realize that karen had a solution for that too! My husband is using her Quatro FFM liner because he developed reddish marks on his face from the silicone cusion and now he ...

Re: Alphabet Soup - AHI, CA, OSA, RLS, PLMD...now its UARS
UARS: "Repeated and multiple arousals (which the patient is usually unaware of) result in an abnormal sleep architecture and daytime somnolence (sleepiness). Arousals result in sympathetic activation, and UARS is therefore likely to cause hypertension similar to obstructive sleep apnea syndrome." M...

Re: RESMED Swift FX mask - vent hole NIGHTMARE!!
Make sure that the vent isn't blowing at all on the blanket, pillows, your arm, your partner's arm, back, etc. I actually take the small hose and turn it to the side a bit so that the vent is out of the way more.

Dear Friends, At first, it was AMAZING! I remember driving home from the titration - my first night with a mask and in a sleep lab, no less and thinking, my goodness, I am driving home at 6:30 am and I don't even feel tired at all! Oh, is the sky really that blue? How wonderful! However, I now have...

Re: How often do you replace your mask pillows?
Dear Jaylee, My husband's cushion for his Quatro just goes and goes...used the same one for 5 months and then I chose to replace it. My Swift FX nasal pillows, however, vary. I replace them about every 3 months but there was one that I needed to replace sooner because it seemed to get thin and coll...

Re: Anybody else like no frills CPAP like me?
Well, Mikey, I don't need my ramp, or my EPR, but I LOVE my heated humidifier and heated hose - the heated humidity has really helped my sinuses - especially in the winter months when the house is so dry from the heat. And, my Aussie heated hose prevents the rain out that I used to get because we k...

Re: "The fear of Falling asleep. Cause of Insomnia?"
Just say to yourself at night, I am being given soothing, humidified, air - just what I need to get peaceful....restorative....sleep.
Eventually, your brain wil catch up and you will become "one with the mask".

Jersey Girl

Re: POLL: How do many of us sleep at night?
I chose "Other" because, while most nights I am fine, there are some nights when I wake up at 3 am wide awake and then it takes me until 5 am to get back to sleep, but this is not good because by 7 am I have to wake up for work and then I feel tired, as though I hadn't slept at all. This has nothin...
