I find the sound of my machine to be a peaceful, quiet, soothing, white noise in the background....don't really even hear it most nights. So, I guess I have no reason to hide my machine.
Regards to all,
Jersey Girl

Re: How many people here still take naps during the afternoon?
I have an s8 Autoset II - I went on cpap with this machine on January 9, 2010. I find my machine to be like a work horse and it's very easy to read and operate. Most of the time I feel that my therapy is working very well but, when I have been ill - or had a back problem (I've got a pinched nerve i...

Re: Expert Interview: Dr. Avram Gold
Dear Friends, I also listened to the interview with Dr. Gold. My husband uses a Mirage Quatro Full Face Mask. (We tried the FX, but just couldn't get the leaks by the eyes to resolve, so back to the good old standard.) My husband was diagnosed with UARS - and crescendo snoring, also had some leg mo...

Re: another newby
I can tell you that I was diagnosed with mild sleep apnea. I only had an average of 4 events per hour but when I was in REM sleep, it went up to 19 AHI per hour. I was very tired, fatigued, felt as though a truck ran over me and my energy level was terrible. I had my blood tested and I was NOT anem...

Re: Well, good news,I have been sleeping better this week
Dear Sister, Thank goodness! I shall pray that you have 8 hours of restful, restorative sleep each and every night! I also enjoy the Swift FX and last night, I slept for 10 hours (getting caught up on sleep after an emotionally draining week). My AHI was 0.9 (I usually hover around 1.9 or so). When...

Re: Sleep Apnea, to treat or not to treat!!!
Phil, My dad was diagnosed in his 60's with obstructive sleep apnea. He couldn't tolerate the mask (felt claustrophobic) and back then they did not have all the neat comfort items that we have now. My dad developed type II diabetes, hardening of the arteries and at age 71 dropped dead in his bathroo...

I use Ivory Liquid dish soap with very warm water - just a few drops in each side of my hose, rinse well with very warm water, and hang to dry once each week. I use the same Ivory dish washing liquid on my nasal pillows. I use distilled white vinegar - one parts vinegar, 2 parts water in my humidif...

I notice that I use most of my water chamber in the winter months when the heat is turned on in the house and even thought it is hot water baseboard heat, it can be very dry in the house in the winter. So, I fill up the chamber every night and every sunday I soak it in 2 parts water, one part disti...

Re: Arthritis symptoms fixed by CPAP/BIPAP/ASV therapy?
I have osteoarthritis in both of my knees and my left knee is in need of a FULL replacement - but I am on a pain patch that has helped greatly. I also have arthritis in my neck, back and hip. I believe that I am able to cope much better on days when I sleep well. And, my diabetes sugar numbers also...

Re: National Sleep Awareness Week Campaign
I am sure it's the type of written questionnaire that I took in my sleep doctor's office prior to being seen. A written questionnaire that you complete and then they talk to you about it and based on your answers they tell you if you are at risk for sleep apnea. I am sure that there is no actual ho...

Re: Do you purchase a new mask every six months?
My insurance co allows for a completely new mask with headgear, new tubing, 2 filters every 3 months and in addition to the above, a new water chamber every 6 months. I am saving them for the time when one of us loses a job and we no longer have health insurance. Yes, I am stocking up, but just a l...
