Re: Recently switched to full face mask - question

Ray, I am a new user also (66 days) and had the same problem--the air just would bubble out of my lips with a nasal mask. I tired chin straps, cervical collars and tape to solve the problem to no avail. I moved to a Full mask after about a month, and my AHI dropped by 60% and has continued to improv...

Re: Mouth leaks

I spent over a month taping my mouth, cervical collars, and chin straps and decided the struggle was not worth it.
I tried a full face mask which eliminated the problem and and not turned back.
Good luck.

Re: How to improve quality of sleep - what works for you?

I find listening to my breathing quite calming Me too. It's a pleasant reminder that my sleep apnea will be well treated throughout the night. But, that list is to cover a broad spectrum of CPAP users who are having problems. Many users experience anxiety about the CPAP process and need to relax. T...

Re: CMS 50D+ accurate?

So i slept all night with the sensor on last night. Haven't looked in sleepy head yet but the respironics app said i had 5 hypopneas total all night. I have my Dr's appt tomorrow and plan on bringing this report along. http://i.imgur.com/hY3JGhel.jpg?1 So I am looking at your data and thinking that...

Excellent AHI but continued bad ODI...Interpretation?

After just having a string of good nights with low AHI (Under 0.6), I have to wonder why I am having such a poor ODI. How should I interpret this? The number of events and desats has not changed much from when my AHI was averaging 3.0. Last night I had a AHI of .27 with the following O2 results: htt...

What does using an ASV machine feel like?

I am curious as to the experience of being on an ASV machine. My understanding is that it intervenes when you are in Apnea, and attempts to correct Cheynes Stokes breathing. Does this cause any sensation in the patient? Can you feel this machine working? Does it wake you up? Or does it fell essentia...

Re: S10 sdcard, remote wireless data transmission

I have put flash air cards in both of our machines. It makes it easier to transfer data to my computer, and eliminates the possibility of copying the data to the wrong sleepyhead file. I have sleepyhead programmed to read the data from files on my hard drive with different files for each of us. Doe...

Re: A quick poll. Temp setting u use with s9 / s10 heated tube?

Only have been using APAP a month, but setting mine at 68 or 69 degrees. I like the cool breeze...makes the mask feel less enclosed. Humidity set at 4.
May move up a degree or so, as it finally is getting cold here in Arizona.

Re: When to worry about centrals?

As we know, central sleep apnea occurs in everyone above a certain altitude, even people without apnea. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/27343103/ Having a sleep study done at 7200ft complicates the issue. If you read the report at this link it suggests that most people will adjust to the chan...

Re: When to worry about centrals?

Great information Pugsy. I think I would take back my current machine... Let the DME know about the new machine (after I test it out, of course)...Get my supplies from the same DME according to standard schedule. I have an empty SD card here at home of the same size. Will the new card in the ASV mac...

Re: When to worry about centrals?

I personally would not want to be on ASV if I had an AHI < 5 on CPAP. As Pugsy mentioned, there are safety concerns about ASV based on a study which showed risk in people with certain heart condition (congestive heart failure with low ejection fraction). What I would add to that is that since know ...

Re: When to worry about centrals?

I have used my machine for 14 days straight with 100% compliance, so I have 7 nights to go. Would I take my current machine back to the DME? or keep it and let the DME know I bought an ASV? Where would I get a new SD card. I assume the one coming in the used machine I am buying would either have no ...

Re: When to worry about centrals?

Thanks for taking such a concern I am waiting and hoping that my doctor contacts me today (before I try to buy the machine). I sent her a letter with some of my SH charts and some oximetry charts. (last week I got my Pulse Ox to record and am correlating that info with the SH info.) The Spo2 levels ...

Re: When to worry about centrals?

Pugsy, it is an Airsense 10 ASV that is for sale. It supposedly has few hours - I think it belonged to someone who passed and their family is selling it. I am a little nervous about buying it since their would be no guarantee, but the price sure is right! (Someone might have already bought it while ...

When to worry about centrals?

After 2 weeks on my APAP, Sleephead has marked about 14 events per night as centrals, while only a couple of OA's and Hypops per night. My average AHI for the same 2 week period is 2.80. On 2 of the days, I have observed Cheynes Stokes respiration. I have the opportunity to purchase the ResMed ASV m...
