Re: New here with a question
What are the advantages of buying the software for my machine? I don't have an appointment with the doctor for a month to look at the results but how do I know if I am using the cpap right so I will not go to the doctor with a blank sd card? TIA! Well the advantages are endless. Most of the the tim...

Re: Reducing Hypopneas..How To?
Ideally you need all your data, or at least how many hypopneas vs apneas you're getting a night. Hypopneas can be considered as partial apneas, lesser in time and the machine can respond if it's an auto to stop it becoming an apnea. I tend usually to get more hypopneas than apneas because I have twe...

Re: Looking for tips and clues with Cpap machine
As others have suggested you're probably breathing through your mouth. You have the H5i but you don't mention if you have the ClimateLine or not? If you do then turn up the ClimateControl to make the air warmer and that will help. One important thing to mention is that I started out on a full face m...

Re: AHI Graph
AHI graph will not show any data when it's at 0, until it starts to increase to something greater than 0 and at that point it will start recording. This is normal practice in ResScan.

Re: last night's sleep report--why so many events?
Thanks VERY much! I really appreciate the guidance. I'll up the minimum, and let the max go to 20 tonight. Just remember that if the AHI is under 5 then the treatment you are getting is working to keep most of your apneas at bay. You can keep tweaking the pressure to on average reduce the AHI even ...

Re: last night's sleep report--why so many events?
I've set my machine to run from a minimum pressure of 6 to a maximum of 12. Last night, I got these results: AHI 1.1 Pressure: Median 6.4, 95% 9.0, Maximum 10.6 This would suggest that for 95% of the time the pressure is at 9cm and at some point through the night the machine ramped up the pressure ...

Re: Tossing and turning - is it ok?
RLS is a definite cause of turning in bed. Actually I did video myself about 4 years ago whilst on CPAP when I had my S8. I did toss and turn a lot in bed, but I do suffer from RLS. The other thing that can cause you to toss and turn are things like mask leaks, or even if your mask is pressing too h...

Re: New sleep study ordered!
If you do go for another sleep test and if it's only for one night then yes they'll probably want you to at least sleep half the night off a machine and half on, or maybe the full night off the machine. It won't be good, you'll probably awake a lot but think of it another way, the tech will probably...

Re: Is my new RESMED S9 APAP Defective...or?
Marc, I think it would help us better if we could see your graphs. The S9 will score events within the RAMP time afaik, the RAMP is there only to just make the pressure more bearable, the machine isn't used to really be used when you're awake and reading with it as Bill suggests. You could get some ...

Re: CPAP and blood pressure
As others have mentioned the BP can be just because you're at the hospital/sleep doctors/doctors and you've been waiting for a while, your nerves and tension build up and so does your blood pressure. Likewise if you're been drinking a lot of caffeine that day or drinks with caffeine in them, this ca...

Re: last night's sleep report--why so many events?
Looking at your graphs the Apneas aren't related to leaks, so it looks like as Katie suggested it's probably positional related, maybe sleeping on your back. Around the big cluster of obstructive apneas along with the central apneas between 3am and 4am you can see you went into snore mode, so it's q...

Re: Question-To comfortable?
jabman, Don't worry too much, think of it as a new toy. You start off wanting to tinker with it, and keep up with it, check the stats, clean the machine etc, but the newness novelty wears off. I just empty the H5i reservoir every day, rinse it and re-fill at night. I clean it once a week (just with ...

Re: New to the forum - Hello
Welcome to the forum James! Don't be put off if you don't take to it like a duck to water. Some of us do and some have a really hard time to acclimatise to using a machine. The S9 is very quiet and it's air management system does not hit you like hitting a wall of air at 100mph so hopefully you can ...

Re: APAP
There's a number of good reasons why you might want the S9. It's the smallest and lightest machine in it's category. It has Climate Control with a heated hose, it has the ability to detect Central Apneas much better than most machines. I could go on but I won't. It really depends what you're after. ...
