Re: What Machine features are essential for you?

If you are paying a large portion of your new cpap, do the math and compare it to the on-line cost, at cpap.com. Find out what your DME would charge, and what your bottom-line cost would be, compared to buying out of pocket yourself. It may also save you the hassle of having to fight for the machine...

Re: AHI Incident

My guess is that if it's under 10 seconds and meets the ResMed definition of hypopnea, it could register as that. Or, if over 10 seconds, it would be a central apneas, since there is no airflow--but no obstruction.

Let us know what happens after a few nights.

Re: New mask... leak rate down to 0.30

AHI is apneas and hypopneas index, that is, per hour of machine usage. So your AI is the number you had per hour. To get the number you had during the night, multiply by your usage hours.

Re: Aerophagia!!! I need advice Please....

Have you had heartburn/acid reflux in the past? I had it occasionally, but when I 1st started cpap, I got it much worse. I would wake up with it, aerophagia, or experience dry cough. I think (for me anyway), they are all related. These are the things that worked for me: - cut out foods that are asso...

Re: Guys--Do you like the Swift FX or the Swift Lt better?

Katie you might want to consider the older aieomed headrest model - not sure how available it is. I tried LT, liked it but exhalation toward my spouse was a problem. Tried to Fx and never got comfortable or good numbers, then switched to headrest. Took a little while to get adjusted but's been my m...

Re: Guys--Do you like the Swift FX or the Swift Lt better?

Thanks everyone, for your comments. I'll pass these on to DH, and let him decide. It sounds like he should eventually try both. He is a side sleeper, and currently uses the papcap which route the hose overhead, so he might prefer to start with the LT, for a similar set-up. I know some of you have mo...

Guys--Do you like the Swift FX or the Swift Lt better?

This question is for my husband, who has been on cpap therapy since the end of January, and doing great. He's been using the Activa Lt, but now wants to try Nasal Pillows. He's on medicare, so pillow replacement isn't an issue. I tried the FX briefly, but it didn't work for me (it was very comfortab...

I lurked at the other forums, before I found this one. I've never gone back to the others.

Have you checked your data? Were you having an event just before you woke up? Or were the vent holes on your mask covered?

Re: *cough*cough*cough*

Is your cough worse when you're horizontal? When I had a cold, I slept propped up on 3 pillows. I also got a room humidifier.

My cough was a "wet" cough, and I found that OTC Mucus Relief tablets (400 mg guaifensin) before bedtime really helped.

No jet lag with cpap

I recently flew from Arizona to North Carolina for a week, a time change of 3 hours. Pre-cpap, I would have been a mess with jet lag. This time, I went to bed at my usual time 10 pm, (NC time which was actually 7pm AZ time), and went right to sleep. Woke up at my usual wake time around 7 am, felt gr...
