... ANTI-depressant. Its primary use is to treat depression. It is also used at lower doses to treat chronic pain. Depression is NOT a side effect of amitriptyline. Julie, please do not make recommendations about medications.

I used Amitriptyline several years ago and it worked great.....My PCP gave it to me with a warning that it can have undesirable effects on the elderly. Even my Medicare Complete plan refused to cover it because it was not recommended ...

Amitriptyline in low doses has been shown to help with pain control which of course helps with sleep. I took it myself for years for this reason but even the lowest dose and only at bedtime made me feel like crap during the ...
