If they can figure out how to diffuse the gel pillow vent as well as the P10, I’ll go back to using it.
The DreamWear Gel Pillows is my favorite mask right now, but the vent is a real weakness. If it had the P10 diffuser, it would be pretty much perfect.

Re: Gaining weight on cpap

I gained weight after starting CPAP, but I have no idea if one was related to the other. I am now eating less, and weight is starting to come down. It wouldn't surprise me if CPAP caused weight gain. Many forms of chronic illness prevent weight gain, but staying sick isn't a good way to keep the wei...

Re: Anyone traded in the Dreamstation for something else?

I have a few different machines, one of which is the DreamStation. I haven't noticed any of the issues you mention except that I do find it to be loud when I use it without the humidifier. With the humidifier, it's much quieter. If you post a recording of your machine, we can probably tell you if it...

Re: Understanding My Results After Sleep Study

Sounds very fishy to me. Glad to hear that you are getting a second opinion!

Definitely get a copy of your home study report. I wonder if they could have mixed you up with someone else.

Re: CPAP and Throat Cancer

Aside from whether or not it caused the OP's cancer, I am very surprised that our machines don't turn off the heating unit when there is no water left. Surely whatever that noxious smell represents isn't something we want blasted into our lungs periodically.

Re: How different are brands of APAP machines?

They all use proprietary methods for event detection and for automatic pressure adjustment. It's certainly possible that one would work better and/or need different settings than another to work for you. That said, I haven't seen anything to suggest that one brand grossly over- or under- counts AHI,...

The OP states that his(her) AHI is down from 80 to ten or less. While still too high, it's a big improvement!
Agreed. Ultimately, goals should be individualized. Even with optimized settings and gear, under 2 is not a realistic goal for all of us.

Re: central sleep apnea

I haven't read your other posts in other threads, so maybe I missed something. But if all we know about you is that you have central sleep apnea, then yes, it is possible that your CPAP machine will do the trick. Not everyone with CSA needs ASV or BPAP-ST. Since OP has been on CPAP for at least the...

Re: Toshiba flashair card

I had problems with settings when I used the Flashair card in station mode via my router. Haven't had any problems using the Flashair card in access point mode. This means that I have to keep the computer near the CPAP machine and that I can't connect to the Flashair and the internet at the same tim...

There are quite a few causes of very low T. Some are completely reversible, others require long term T replacement therapy. The endo can help you figure that out. Best wishes!

Re: How low can I expect AHI to go when I start using CPAP?

It varies a lot. While there is a loose correlation between baseline severity and on-treatment AHI, there are plenty of people who go from an AHI above 50 to an AHI less than 1 right away after starting CPAP. I am not one of those people, sadly. I started with an AHI of 48, and on CPAP, I'm at 3 or ...

Nobody is suggesting you, or some other newbie, is inventing things out of thin air, simply that THEIR experience has indicated that those 'frequently recommended' things are a waste of time. You're the one that's making it a big thumping deal. Hardly. act like a "forum newbie" invented the idea ou...

Re: Low Testosterone & Sleep Apnea / The chicken or the Egg lol

A Bit of an embarrassing subject but I just got tested for low T and its super low - 39 nanograms per deciliter ("Normal being 300-900+ even in senior males) There is some disagreement about what really is the normal range for elderly men. Most in the field consider the lower limit of normal to be ...
