Re: High HI Low AI - Bad Sinuses
So all those little blue dots are hypopneas throughout the night? And the red bars are the apneas and the number on top is the length of the apnea? Yes to all 3 questions. Hyponeas didn't get a duration in seconds ...only the OAs. S8 machines didn't give a flow rate (breathing) graph. S8 machines d...

Re: High HI Low AI - Bad Sinuses
This paper https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2854701/ discusses the S8 scoring. In this test manual scoring gave an AHI of 4.2 while the S8 AHI came in at 9.9. Manual scoring of AI was 1.9 while the S8 AI came in at 2.4. Manual scoring of HI came in at 2.3 while S8 HI came in at 7.5. You...

Re: High HI Low AI - Bad Sinuses
I don't know if I would want to be going higher than 15 without EPR just to kill a few hyponeas showing up on a machine that was known to report elevated hyponea counts. I have had aerophagia issues enough to know that I don't want them all the time and if I were to use 15 cm all night long there's...

Re: High HI Low AI - Bad Sinuses
Suggestions Melatonin 1 mgm 20-30 mins before bed (std dose is 3 mgms but it makes me feel like cr#p the next day). This helps me sleet through the night. Congestion: try increasing humidity OR if already high try decreasing. I have chronic congestion problems and often get completely stopped up ov...

Re: High HI Low AI - Bad Sinuses
Does EPR have any affect on HI? Also, would buying the ResMed chip scanner attachment give me any useful information? I found them online for like 50 bucks. Using EPR effectively lowers the pressure during exhale which lowers the overall average a bit and it can (for some people) bring that average...

Re: High HI Low AI - Bad Sinuses
If you have a deviated septum and your ENT recommends surgery, I would do it. I did when I was 17. Nasal breathing is preferred. It just doesn't bother me all that much other than the CPAP mask. Im considering it though while I have the insurance. Surgery improved my sinus conditions. When you say ...

Re: High HI Low AI - Bad Sinuses
In terms of that elevated Hyponea Index...I wouldn't be happy with it if it were me. I would want to try to reduce it by using more pressure if it were me as long as using more pressure didn't create more problems. Knowing the S8 machines seemed to historically flag more hyponeas for whatever reaso...

Re: High HI Low AI - Bad Sinuses
Anyone else have a solution for the hi HI? I've increases the pressure as high as 15 and turned off EPR but the HI is still averaging 7.00-8.00
Is this anything to worry about?
Edit -
I'm trying to use the search function as well but I can't find too much information on high HI levels.

Re: High HI Low AI - Bad Sinuses
I'm just talking about sinuses. I have a very old C-Flex machine. It lowers the pressure when you inhale and I liked it much more than regular cpap. They don't even make that machine so I won't go into details. I thought newer machines would be improved with that. I had sinus surgery for deviated s...

Re: High HI Low AI - Bad Sinuses
Bump. Really confused about a few things if anybody can help out. Elevated HI means there are times throughout the night where I am not breathing as deeply? So what causes elevated HI? Assuming it's not the machine overestimating. What else causes this besides maybe sinus problems? And how does more...
