Re: AHI still too high
How can I tell if the centrals are real? Would an oximeter help? Can you recommend a source for me to learn more about centrals? Thanks

Re: AHI still too high
Thanks for the suggestions Pugsy, it seems like things are moving in the right direction. I set the machine with the settings you recommended, but felt like I wasn't getting enough air, so I put the PS at 2. Thursday's was the lowest AHI I've recorded. You might think you refuse to shine, but I'm do...

Re: New Airsense 10 Elite Keeping Me Awake
Hi Randy, Some of the most knowledgeable folks here are probably sleeping right now. But I can at least point out a few things that might help them answer your question when they return. Can you tell us what pressure your machine is set for? Is your mask nasal or full-face? I use a full face mask wi...

Re: Husbands first night with device
Can you be more specific? Not many people know what drowning sounds like. I'm no expert, but I think most masks are designed to prevent drowning. I don't mean to be snarky, but it's late and I'm not sure how to say it better. I think they have special valves or something to keep folks from serious t...

Re: One year in and I still feel horrible
drfaust, I'm sorry the other provider wasn't helpful. It seems to me like the way we train and pay docs leads to this kind of tunnel vision. I am fortunate to have found a wonderful naturopath who listens to me when I speak, sees me on time in a large office with windows on two sides, and all the sc...

Re: AHI still too high
yep, I need a new sleep study to be titrated to an ASV. I was surprised the doc went there so quickly, but he says tinkering with the BiPAP won't help with Complex Apnea, so on we go to the next step. I've checked all the local sleep clinics, and they all wake you at 5 am, so I'm going to try UW Med...

Re: AHI still too high
In the several nights I had left waiting for the BiPAP, I found I felt better when I didn't use the CPAP, so I stopped. The collar didn't change my numbers during the one night I had it and the machine on at the same time, but I did notice that I felt a bit better on the days after I had it on. Smal...

Re: Fraudulent sleep study?
This thread illustrates, I think, part of what really frightens me about this whole process. It seems to me, after looking and many of my charts in Sleepyhead, that not only are some night different than others, but sometimes I have good parts of a night, and it's not the same part twice. Yes, I've ...

Re: AHI still too high
Wow. Thanks all for the help. I really appreciate it. I'll start with answering Pugsy's questions: Positioning: I start on my left side generally, but I tend to move around. I tried constructing elaborate and firm wedges out of folded blankets, and I found it very comfortable, but it didn't help wit...

Re: AHI still too high
Well, it turned out I wasn't headed in the right direction. The doc wanted me to try a pressure range of 7 to 15, which came with a fair amount of aerophagia. At first it looked like this: http://i.imgur.com/Y6QU9WLl.jpg 12/8 and then I caught a cold, which then turned into strep throat for the firs...

Re: CBD Oil
In my state (WA) we have special stores now that sell a product that is similar to CBD oil, but less expensive than the CBD oil I've seen in stores that don't check ID. The product comes in various edible or liquid forms, has a very small amount of THC to go with the CBD. My experience has been that...

Re: Article: misdiagnosed sleep apnea
I found the article interesting. It describes my experience quite well, which is sad given how old the article is. Insurance will pay for things based on specific measurements, so the doctor's job becomes demonstrating those measurements. It doesn't matter if you were awake or asleep when they were ...

Re: One year in and I still feel horrible
Hello drfaust. I'm sorry I have nothing helpful to offer, I just wanted to say thanks for this thread. Sometimes it helps a little just to know there are others who understand what we're going through. My stats are different than yours, but I've also been laughed at by doctors, been mildly assaulted...

Re: Lab sleep study for night owls?
Thanks for the replies. Pugsy, I've been meaning to post my latest data and ask for help, but I've been using almost all my functional time for family and work. I know I need to do like they say on the airplane, and put your own mask on before assisting others, but it's hard. D.H., alas, my sleep do...

Lab sleep study for night owls?
I'm a 49 year old parent of 2. I have Delayed Sleep Phase and Complex Sleep Apnea. I have called many sleep clinics, and worked with one locally, but none of them seem to understand or accommodate people with circadian rhythm disorders. As I talk to more and more places who say, "of course we'll wak...
