Re: Horrible dry mouth

Thank you for the suggestions... I did try keeping my tongue to the roof of my mouth at the beginning of my therapy, I guess I'll have to work on training myself to keep doing it and see if it helps. I'd love to try xylimelts, but neither of the stores I go to have them, and the only other pharmacy ...

Horrible dry mouth

Maybe someone has a solution that I haven't already heard? I have been having absolutely horrid dry mouth. I use a nasal pillow mask, humidifier set at 3, and I either use a chin strap or tape to keep my mouth closed. So I am not breathing through my mouth, but I will wake up many times a night with...

Side sleeping aerophagia

I have this odd conundrum that I'd like to figure out. Whenever I sleep on my side, I get bad aerophagia, I wake up on my side, with stomach pain and gas. But I don't get it when I sleep on my back. My theory is that I'm less prone to apneas while on my side than back, and my lowest pressure is too ...

Re: Do you ever have trouble pulling in air?

What size nasal pillow are you using? Still the P10? I have had what you are describing happen with the P10...the nasal pillow tried to climb up in my nose and got compressed a bit and the air flow got shut off or greatly reduced. Solved by moving up a size in nasal pillow so that it can't get suck...

Molly, why not just try it once?
I may try it, I just have never liked sleeping pills, makes me feel heavy, like I'm not in control of my body. I'm nervous that valerian root would make me feel the same.

Re: Introducing myself

Welcome! I'm a newbie too, been at this for 5 months now. I'm 32 and mother of 5 boys. My ahi wasn't as bad as yours, but I was definitely exhausted all the time like you. I'm getting mine down to 3 on average with the help of the members here. I'm sure they can help you get to an even better ahi to...

Re: valerian root and sleep quality

I haven't used it, but I was thinking about it for the same reasons you are, not to fall asleep, but to stay asleep. I literally have a bottle of it that I'm on the fence about trying. I'll be following this post :)

Re: MAD device alternative?

How bad/severe was your OSA pre cpap? Thinking of using it ONLY for camping?....how long of a camping trip?...and how often? How are you going to verify that it works....or even if it works? It wasn't horrible, I was diagnosed with mild sleep apnea, lately I've been wondering if I have severe UARS....

You have something that works, why try something that doesn't work. Jim
I have something that works: at home, with electricity. I can't spend the extra $500 on a battery to operate my apap when we go camping, or emergencies when the power goes out.

Re: MAD device alternative?

Molly, you usually get what you pay for... that thing is advertised as an antisnoring device, whatever else it says about sleep. It's not designed to treat apnea in a serious way, more as an afterthought I think. I don't remember your history, but I strongly suggest you go over everything again for...

MAD device alternative?

My doctor told me MAD devices were expensive, I can't remember how much, but after dentist bills, fittings and everything, Im remembering a cost around $600-$1000. I just came across this website, it claims it should work the same as a mad device : https://www.vitalsleep.com/vitalsleep-mouthpiece-sm...

Re: mouth piece to keep mouth closed

I have the same problem, I saw someone mention the use of boil and bite mouth guards and how they could help keep your mouth closed. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B005VYK31Q/ref=ya_aw_oh_bia_dp?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I got one and tried to use it one night. Problem was that it was uncomfortable and I couldn...

Time to reassess

I've been consistently getting AHI around 3. Sometimes higher, sometimes lower. Is it possible to improve my numbers? I guess an AHI of 3 isn't horrible, so if there's nothing that jumps out at you for changing, I'm sure I can live with 3, I'd just like to optimize if it's possible. I've been using ...
