Re: C-Flex and the I:E ratio
One other thing is the manner in which you are deriving your I:E. I'm guessing you're comparing the statistical averages to get it. As I said somewhere above, this may not be accurate. I was eyeballing random samplings like the ones I showed here, where each individual breath has an apparent I:E ra...

Re: C-Flex and the I:E ratio
To be correct, one needs to compare the inspiration period of one breath to the expiration period of the same breath. The bottom line is that if you want to know what your true I:E ratio is when using a PR machine, you must measure and compare the inspiration and expiration periods of the flow wave...

C-Flex and the I:E ratio
This could be considered an extension of an earlier thread: http://www.cpaptalk.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=113290&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=90 Please merge if applicable. I noticed that my PR DreamStation with C-Flex 3 gives me an "inverse" (greater than 1) I:E ratio: https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4660/3959...

Re: POLL: What was your AHI at your diagnostic sleep study?
My diagnostic #s:
AHI 48.4
Supine AHI 63.2
REM AHI 61.5
Low O2: 72%
I had an O2 sat less than 85% for 10% of the time that I was asleep .
While on treatment, my AHI is usually under 5. Would like to get it a bit lower. Work in progress!

Re: New here, introduction and some newbie questions...
Thanks, Ted. I'm definitely considering the Ultimate Chinstrap. I just wasn't sure if it would work as well as taping for controlling my mouth leaks. As far as mask leaks go, I've mostly got that under control by changing to the N20 nasal mask. Now I just need to find a way to keep my skin from brea...

Re: New here, introduction and some newbie questions...
Welcome to the club. I looked at your SH chart a few posts up. Personally I don't like seeing all those leaking spikes since the noise they make maybe disturbing your sleep. I see you are using pillows. How are you trying to control mouth leaking? Have you tried taping just to see what it is like n...

Re: New here, introduction and some newbie questions...
This may be a dumb question, but is there any chance - based on the graphs I showed - that I'm wrong about having OSA? Not a snowball's chance in hell of you not having OSA. IMHO If you want to get an idea of just how much stuff the machine is preventing...set the machine to 4 minimum and 4 maximum...

Re: Why is 'effort' not considered an alternate?
Try not to confuse a proven successful treatment (PAP) with a generalized recommendation based on a stastical association ('maybe you should try losing weight just to see if maybe that may help you'). That kind of confusion kills people. So I try not to perpetuate it or spread it. Dieting has recen...

Re: Why is 'effort' not considered an alternate?
The reason The Gold Standard only treats 50 percent of diagnosed sleep apnea patients, is because only 50% of them have the intestinal fortitude to succeed at many things they need to do. It's strange as lots of us end up overweight you would think we had more Guts, at least in size if not length. ...

Re: Why is 'effort' not considered an alternate?
No!, Because XPAP is the "Gold Standard", You may Swim in De-Nile, playing games, but it's your health and life you are playing with. What's it worth to your Family and friends, even yourself. These are things you must decide for yourself for you must live with the choices. PAP as a gold standard l...

Re: Why is 'effort' not considered an alternate?
With weight loss and exercise you may be able to reduce pressure settings... Dideridoo may do the same... Neither have been shown on a significant basis to "reduce apneas". I don't know about Dideridoo, but weight loss certainly has been shown to significantly reduce apneas in people who are obese ...

Re: are these real CSA events?
I we assume that they are real central apneas (CAs), and most likely they are, then I agree with Pugsy - lowering the PS or changing back to CPAP would make sense.
Do you remember what your prescription was for when you were on CPAP? What pressure level?

I'm the same.TedVPAP wrote: Is your nasal passage adequate so that you can breath without the mouth when awake (without the PAP)? Mine is but I have to make an effort to keep the lips shut so I don't cheat.
