Re: DME appointment this week
Absolutely, categorically, check to see if the machine has already been used. Look at every little bit of it closely, including the power cord. Nothing should look shop-worn, the power cord should have newly-unwrapped kinks in it. Find out how to enter the clinician's mode and locate "hours used". T...

Re: CPAP Jaw Pain due to Tongue
I'm hoping someone has dealt with something similar.. but I started CPAP about a year ago.. after about 3 months my jaw / throat area started to become sore.. it causes me jaw pain, headaches in my temple, and pain in my throat near my lymph nodes. I am using nasal pillows and my theory is that whi...

Re: Solar power for camping with cpap
The Yeti's are attractively on sale right now--see REI--and evidently go 3 nights or so for CPAP. They can be daisy-chained, so you can add more later. Check on the Goal Zero site for how much of a solar panel is needed, and how long it takes to charge. You'll want to be charging it whenever you're ...

Sleeping on your face.... On a down/feather pillow? You're probably getting mildly suffocated repeatedly during the night.MaxINTJ wrote: What else could be causing my (lack of) sleep issues? Any ideas? From anybody?

Re: Generators
Huh? I made no mention of charging a CPAP. And the other stuff? There's no call for retorting as though I'm stupid. You'd be wrong.

Re: Generators
What you think you're talking about doesn't exist. Of course they do! Presumably, they're just variants on an auto portable battery-charger. They're made by companies like Jackery, Goal Zero... They go from about $150 on up. And they could be used to charge other devices in addition to a CPAP. I ju...

Re: Can Vitamin D Improve Sleep?
To me, there are some major red flags about the reliability of the study. 1. Was it peer-reviewed? 2. Where was it originally published, and was this a respected source? 3. Was the study in Farsi and, if so, who is responsible for translating it and how do we know the translator didn't improvise? 4....

Generators
On this board, I've seen some info on using batteries for camping, but honestly, it makes my head spin. These days, you can get mini generators/power stations that are charged electrically or by solar panel. Basically, you just plug them in. Then your device plugs into the generator/power station. Y...

Re: medicare pay for sleep study in lab
Yes, Medicare pays for lab sleep study. I just had one. If you qualify, they pay for treatment, too. It's possible the doc ignored the Medicare specs, which have much lower benchmarks for treatment if you've had a stroke. This doctor is trouble. Here are readable Medicare specs: https://www.cms.gov/...

Re: No CPAP, Great Night's Sleep
Ya know there is some really good information & some very helpful people on this board, but there are a hell of a lot of trolls who go into attack mode anytime a contrarian point of view is posted. ... even with all the assistance CPAP just may not be right for me. If you can't handle that, I'm sor...

Re: Hazards of CPAP :-(
Well, my neck has been fine for over 50 years and was just fine the day before. I woke up with a very sore neck that just got worse as the day went on until I ended up in the ER that evening. Since it happened while I slept and the only change in my life was CPAP.... Even if it wasn't, the result i...

Success! And Need Next Steps
I'm the person who had the sleep test from hell. I scored an AHI 18 (moderate OSA), but a CMS AHI of 4.7 rounded up to 5. Only the CMS AHI of greater or equal to 5 counts for Medicare. This means the sleep doc wouldn't refer me for treatment. Sooooo.....Natch, I looked up the Medicare guidelines. It...

Re: I can't inhale 50% of the time with my new APAP machine, is
====== why not buy the machine that worked well get rid of the one that does not work so good I'm in the process of dealing with that right now. However, because this is Thailand and I am a foreigner, they don't legally have to allow me to exchange it. So I worry that they may not allow me to excha...

Re: Any non-snorers out there? Secretly hoping I have OSA
I sometimes choke or snort and wake up. It didn't show up in my sleep study, although I was asleep for 6+ hours. However, the vibrator-picker-upper on my throat noted that I have frequent vibrations in the throat, so not full-out snores. I was surprised how many. My AHI score is 18. I was shocked at...
