Re: Anyone have experience with the Orthodontic Mouthpiece in lieu of CPAP?
The MAD device was a stunning failure in my case, resulting in exquisitely painful long-lasting TMJ and a steep out-of-pocket financial loss. Not to mention it did nothing to improve my sleep apnea symptoms.
No more chasing shiny baubles for me. I'm a strict adherent to regular CPAP usage these days.

Re: CPAP was worthless.
One can have a bad test, bad techs, bad doctors, the wrong machine, and ineffective treatment. I've had them all, lol. Symptoms may or may not manifest immediately from airflow stoppages / limitations and/or clear airway events, but the damage is being done just the same. Would you consider a home ...

Re: No CPAP, Great Night's Sleep
C=Adapt - could you have incidentally gotten Meunier's or vertigo around the same time as your OSA (if you had it) developed? Nausea and dizziness are not usually symptoms OSA. Julie, thanks for bringing up Meniere's. I was never checked for that - had spent a small fortune on just treating the OSA...

Re: No CPAP, Great Night's Sleep
As a rookie here, take this with a grain of salt, Hammer - and I apologize in advance for the lack of brevity. While it may seem a bit like harassment from some, I'd encourage you to weed through everything and seriously consider the straightforward technical advice being offered. I was diagnosed wi...

Re: Trilogy AVAPS vs ASV - Move the Argument Here
ASV is contraindicated for hypoventation. It is for hyperventilation syndrome, CSR and treatment-emergent complex apnea. You could perhaps kill someone who is severely underventilated (hypoventilation) by putting them on an ASV, they should be on a VAPS. I could be wrong, and someone please correct ...

Re: How the hell is this going to work?
So, I'm a fifteen year old girl, and I've had my CPAP for about three days. I've started to think about it all, and I thought to myself 'how the hell is this going to work?' I'm turning 16 in about ten days, and I wanted a few of my friends to sleep over, but now I have a CPAP. What if they think i...

Re: Alternatives To Cpap???
I had a colleague who had TMJ, and I would hear her moan involuntarily when the pain was too great. She was not enjoying it. Reading that makes me cringe, I hope this person is doing better. My TMJ lasted about nine months, where I was completely unable to use the MAD. A steroid dose knocked down t...

Re: Alternatives To Cpap???
Hi. Anyone have personal experience with, or know of anyone, who has used some sort of MOUTH device to treat their SA? I was diagnosed with moderate SA (24.7/hr) and can't seem to tolerate the CPAP with its hose, FFM, etc. Just wondering if there have been any recent advances which are less cumbers...
