Re: How to cheat cpap

Hi Itrytofly, Here is a link to a video where some professionals talk about why half of us don't tolerate PAP very well and some possible solutions. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Syv7YcHbTCI&t=29m0s Krakow, the 2nd of the 3 guys speaking is the most interesting, so if you get bored by the first, he...

Re: Should I get an oxygen monitor

Hi CorgiWalker, One of the things about intermittent fasting and a keto diet is that it's difficult to get enough potassium. Some of the foods that are highest in potassium are cut out of your diet. I had some palpitations before I started with keto, and they only got worse. One of the reasons I was...

Re: UARS & CPAP

Hi miner49er,
I just noticed that I have a fan now! Thanks!
I was very honoured to be put on Palerider's list, but this is going to make my head swell. And we all know that a swollen head is not good for sleep apnea.
Cheers!

I think enough has been revealed now so that anyone reading this thread will see the light.
My point made.
My work here is done.

No "Ring Around the Rosie".

JPB

At least we can agree on that.
Have a good sleep!

Re: UARS & CPAP

What is so hard to believe? Many people reduce their sleep apnea by losing weight. Do you not believe that? Countless studies have shown it to be true. Weight loss: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/11122588/ Quote from study: "RESULTS: Relative to stable weight, a 10% weight gain predicted an a...

Re: UARS & CPAP

I know that I got my AHI down to 5 because I was tested. I have posted the actual test results on another thread here and on ApneaBoard. I know I am the Crown Prince of Latvia. I just can't produce the proof. :( And holding? JPB Hi JPB, And how do you know that you are getting effective trea...

Re: UARS & CPAP

Hi miner49er, I have not been diagnosed with UARs but I have OSA. Also, I haven't tried acupuncture but I do tongue and throat exercises every day. Along with regular(6 out of 7 days a week) cardio exercise and weight management, I have brought my AHI from 20 down to 5. Just to be clear, this is un...

Re: Melatonin experience

A couple of other interesting connections with Melatonin levels in people with Sleep Apnea. People with OSA have lower concentrations of Melatonin and the secretion rythym is off in 1/4 of them. CPAP doesn't seem to help increase the concentrations of Melatonin but it does help to get the secretion ...

Re: Melatonin experience

I take 6mg of Melatonin for GERD. The studies have recently shown it reduces acid reflux almost as well as PPI. It helps to tighten the LES. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2821302/ The 6 mg is kind of high but everytime I try reducing it my GERD comes back. It does affect how I feel in...

Re: UK Pre-Noob - Lots of questions

Hi Mop Top and rich blaine,
The sellers of the Contec RS01 have recently dropped their price on this 3 Channel Sleep Apnea Screener to US$100 (eBay). If you search for it here it has been discussed.
Rich, would you consider this as a viable possibility for Mop Top?

Re: Transition off CPAP to oral appliance

Hi Sleep Nomad, I first read your blog about a month ago and seeing your results is encouraging. I take some vitamin D and B-complex, but not at the levels Dr Gormiak feels will help. I also don't get my D levels checked very often. If you are looking for data when you are not using CPAP, Contec mak...

Re: treating mild OSA

The second statement relates to those with a low arousal threshold. No idea what percent of persons with mild OSA have a low arousal threshold, but those for whom that is not an issue are not represented in the statement. I am not sure what percent of persons with mild OSA have low arousal threshol...
