Re: open mouth breathing

I was not able to use a full face, it was just too obtrusive. I ended up with a nasal mask, and this requires me to keep my mouth closed to work. Sometimes I get some nasal dryness, but nothing like the mouth issues with a full face. And my doctor said I should sleep with my mouth closed, and that w...

Re: Trouble Committing to CPAP- Now What?

Don't give up, keep trying. Maybe try a different mask, and lots of great suggestions above too. As mentioned, sleep apnea is *terrible* for your heart. Don't wait a long time like I did. Maybe a bipap or auto-bipap migt be easier for you to get used to. Keep trying to live with the machine. Treatme...

Re: Need response--my doctor won't help

However, my AHI was very high (51) so they went ahead and diagnosed me without doing a follow-up study to actually determine a set pressure. I think he may have prescribed auto because my OSA was so severe; he said that auto technology is the best at eliminating events, and he felt I needed the bes...

Re: Safe to run cpap near computer?

If your hose is long enough, try putting the cpap machine on the floor just under your bed. If you have carpeting, you'll need something flat on top of the carpet. The pipes will run uphill from the floor, so you won't have to worry about water running over the pipes, or leaks around your computer. ...

Re: gurgling noises - mask related?

Putting the machine lower than your mattress will help until you get the hose hanger that JDS recommended. Mask size doesn't matter. The moisture/condensation is running down to the "valley of the hose" and gurgling. You could also turn down the humidity setting. yeah, for me, I had to put the mach...

Re: Two questions from a newbie

On the 18th of Jan is my appointment, cant wait, its actually horrible to wait so long. How long do you reckon you had the condition? Hi Chacom, for me, I believe it got slowly worse over about 20 years. I got a formal diagnosis about 3 years ago, but had worsening symptoms since about 1995. Best l...

Re: Exhale causes machine to Hum and vibrate

My machine has loads of other problems with output, but after a while it did the same thing. When I first got it, it was *silent*. After a while, weeks or month or so, it started making a moaning sound when I exhale. ) Check the seals on your tank. This can also effect output. Thanks, Krelvin.

Re: So far, not impressed with this cpap stuff

Sandypro, egads this thing is a real challenge for me too! I get the feeling that some people just find it easy to fall asleep with the thing and see improvement almost immediately. When I complained exactly what you complain about to my medical device provider, the rep sneered at me and said "See t...

Re: Two questions from a newbie

Re mouth dryness, some cpap/bipap machines come with a built in humidifier. Its just a little chamber you fill with distilled water, the air blows through it, then into your mask piping.

Re: Two questions from a newbie

Chacom, best of luck to you getting treatment and feeling better. Apnea is a major drain on our lives. Regarding "And more that that I worry very much about mouth dryness. I can´t wet my gums with this thing in my mouth.": I was not able to use a full face mask that allows me to open my mouth, or an...

Re: Resipronics BIPAP Auto system one disaster

Apparently, the health insurance providers don't have equipment to validate that these machines are working correctly. its extremely frustrating all this and I still can't sleep. The equipment provider (DME) should have a gage to measure the output pressure and I have to think they have done that. ...

Resipronics BIPAP Auto system one disaster

Hi All, Reaching out to find anyone with a similar problem with a "Respironics BIPAP Auto Bi-Flex System ONE". I was sold one of these machines a few years ago by our health insurance provider. After a few days use, I noticed that the machine had significantly reduced output. I complained about it, ...
