Re: F & P Brevida

I haven't gave up on it yet but the movement on my face is pretty annoying, I don't have that with the P10. It is very soft and comfortable but there is a lot more area touching compared to the P10. I might have a slightly used Brevida for sale if somebody is interested. I will try it a little more...

Re: Mask leakage - should I be concerned

So if the issue is that Resmed actually falls over on detection at lower excess pressures (24-35L/min or so - regardless of the total flow) and Respironics can stay sane to 80-90 or more, . Most people are able to comprehend the simple fact that resmed reports excess leak and respironics report tot...

Re: Mask leakage - should I be concerned

ResMed starts falling over when excess leak goes past 35 L/min..not total leak. ResMed never gives us a total leak number to go by, Respironics machines won't start falling over until excess leak goes past 100 or total leak up around 120 whichever someone wants to go by. I may have missed it where ...

Re: Mask leakage - should I be concerned

the simple calculation trumps it, if you have knowledge of the actual mask curve, and SH does. Ah...but you are assuming something not in evidence...that SH knows the curve and has it right and Marks way of calculating was correct. We are trying to tell you that Mark came up with a lot of good idea...

Re: Mask leakage - should I be concerned

no, that's not how resmed does it. resmed calculates a baseline leak by monitoring the variations in flow, you can see this happen on vpap, theres a lot of math involved, sleepyhead used to try to do that for respironics, ,but the math was insufficient and would occasionally result in artificially ...

Re: Mask leakage - should I be concerned

Ok, great... I'll take your word that Respironics machines suck at maintaining pressure at higher flow rates, and start to drop off pressure at point that's some amount lower than Resmed. If that's the case, why would one increase the redline threshold when using the Respironics? Apparently it can'...

Re: Mask leakage - should I be concerned

So, you're saying that 24L/min of excess leak as a redline threshold is appropriate for Resmed, but not for Respironics? Sure, if the Respironics machine is just so much better at handling excess that 60L/min is ok..then sure, but I see no evidence of that. Why wouldn't the amount of total flow the...

Re: Mask leakage - should I be concerned

Pugsy, I'm just not seeing this behavior in Sleepyhead. The redline % is based on the SH calculated excess leak when using a Dreamstation, not total leaks. It's clear to see this by manipulating the redline threshold, and looking at the calculated leak line. I have my threshold set at 24L/min, and ...

Take it to your DME and have them "reset data". Make sure they record you old data first. Off topic, but dig your username there. '02 WRX owner here...Sedona Red. Lots of go-fast additions . Re: Mask leakage - should I be concerned

First of all....you are using a Respironics machine...is that correct? If so you need to make a little adjustment in SleepyHead so that it pulls more accurate leak %. Go into Preferences...cpap tab and adjust the "Flags over leak threshold" number from 24 (that's the ResMed threshold and way to low...

I just opened up one of these a couple of hours ago, and gave it a few minutes trial. Very nice mask, and definitely easy on the nose. The seal seems very forgiving. I'm looking forward to giving it a shot tonight.

Re: Wake Up Attack - Pounding Chest

Sans an occasional waking in a panic out of breath (which I attributed to nightmares/dreams), and snoring, I was seemingly asymptomatic as well pre-cpap. I felt great and energetic at all times. I'm not overweight, and I get a ton of exercise. Only the snoring, which was seriously affecting my wife'...

Re: New User

After my 6th day of using my machine, I'm finally getting to the point of knowing how to use my nose pillow. My chin strap, on the other hand, I can do without. It keeps sliding off and causing my mouth to gape open. My wife actually woke me up a few times last night because she was worried about t...
