Re: Newbie issues w Dreamstation Autopap

Sometimes this might have something to do with the mask you are using that blocks moving air. See if you have air escaping from mask when exhale or try different size mask might help. There's a machine diagnostic option on DreamStatation that you can use to check if your machine is working properly....

Re: Auto CPAP questions.

I think your OptiStart was on as others said here. It is based on your 95% pressure history from the past. 7 is just the min limit you set. Ram setting has nothing to do with the actual pressure during sleeping. It is used when you feel like to start with a low pressure to fall asleep. Just make it ...

Re: Centrals are Rising?

I don't think you can lower/or control CA. CPAP is mainly for obstructive apnea OA I believe. CA is more like you stop breathing yourself. If you take sleep pills in the night thinking it will help your sleep, don't. Your OA might get more serious and you don't aware of it as your muscle is more rela...

Re: At sleeep study, were you hoping you had apnea?

I believe most people have sleep apnea to some degree of light or heavy. A light sleep apnea person might/might not need to use a cpap machine but it will sure helps himself in the long run if he can put up with it. Lacking of oxygen during sleep might not kill you instantly but will affect your hea...

Re: Confused & looking for some advice

Well. As soon as I saw the 6-7 setting I was surprised to see max at 7 and I thought it's a typo. I don't know if you have tried raising the max to 12 yet since doc said it's 10 after the sleepy test. Also do you feel your mouth dry every morning you woke up? That might indicate you are a mouth brea...

Re: Lots of Hypoapneas

I read from somewhere that your CA is actually caused by a sudden increase in pressure which will interfere your airway or something. In order to reduce the jump, I'll check the sleepyhead data and see what's the usual max pressure I have and reduce from there. I reduced the max from 20 originally t...

Re: I totally understand

You don't have to pull the mask out to feel the air. Just open your mouth a bit and talk. You have air in there if you found you are babbling.

Re: Study: "CPAP machines do not reduce heart attack, strokes"

Cpap probably does not reduce or stop heart stroke for sure. It won't cure your heart problem. What it does is it won't stress out your already weaken heart. Every min you lost your oxygen will jump start your heart to grasp for more air. Cpap helps to minimize the occurrence. Sent from my SM-N910W8...

Well. Using cpap is voluntary. Nobody can force you to do it. Don't use it if you don't like it. It's not for everyone.

Re: Good Canadian online retailers?

I'll get machine from local and mask online. Reason is they will do the government rebate for machine and will replace machine if it's defective in store. I had a defective Dreamstation replaced after a month of use. The store I went in Toronto allow me to try their masks. Then you can get masks onl...

Re: Dry mouth/Leak rates using nasal pillows

The AHI just show you the machine is doing is job. Doesn't really mean you had a good night sleep. The night before I couldn't fall asleep. Had something in my mind. End up moving around with my mask on as I was afraid I might really got into sleep. Woke up and my AHI was 0.6. That just mean my airw...

Re: Emptying dreamstation water

You can slide and open the top remove the clear plastic container. Every morning I just empty the water and left the container out to dry. That's the water that goes into your lung so I won't advise to leave it over days and just to it up. Mould or gems flow fast. I have soft water and filtered soft...

Re: Respironics Remstar 460P "Service needed" message!

That happened to my brand new dreamstation one. Had it for about a month. One night it kept restarting itself although there's no leak. Then out if the blue it starts beeping and gave me an error code with service needed message. I recycled the power and worked that night. Brought it to the store an...

Re: Do I actually have sleep apnea?

I think you have to embrace it instead of avoid it. It's really hard to do this the first few weeks. It's also not like you turn on the machine put on the mask and it will work for you. You might have to play with the settings and try with different masks. Do research etc to get better AHI. It's not...
