Re: Just Diagnosed - Advice...in Australia
Government assistance for purchase is only available for concession card holders. Is it really? I’ve been on an Age Pension for the last 6 years and have never been told about this. Where can I find more info. I want to change from Respironics (although I am very used to it) to REsmed, but really c...

Re: Just Diagnosed - Advice...in Australia
Hi, I have just been diagnosed with Severe Obstrucrive Sleep Apnea with an AHI of 117. My specialist says it’s the highest he has ever seen but reading this forum I see that people have had higher. I am getting an urgent cpap for hire tomorrow but will need to invest in my own. Any advice or recomm...

Re: Rainout with Heated Tubing
I like a lot of humidity too. With humidity set at '6' I need to have the temperature at 30 during winter to minimise rainout. My bedroom is unheated and gets down to about 12C overnight. The hose does feel warm to the touch for the first 10 minutes or so after starting. As Pugsy suggested, I have a...

Re: ResMed AirSense Autoset 10 - 'Warming' mode for the humidifier
I use the warm-up feature, especially during winter. After 10-15 minutes the screen will display 'Ready'. If you don't hit 'start' within a few minutes, the cool-down cycle begins and once cool, the machine will switch off.

You may be registered, but somehow you are not logged in, hence all the crap that appears on the left under your name.
Can you try to log in?

I'd be happy if the overused, offensive and downright juvenile terms 'libtard' and 'libturd' were expunged from the board.

Re: Waking up Choking
Your description of symptoms matches mine from before treatment and also if I have my starting pressure too low. With proper cpap treatment my acid reflux has totally disappeared.
What are your starting pressure, ramp time and therapy pressure settings?

Re: Tap Water
Some city water supplies have added excessive amounts of chlorine to the water supply, as a response to state health departments demanding lower microbe counts. Alliance, NE is such a place. That tap water in my tank STANK to high heaven! My eyes and throat burned. It was nasty! Yep, same situation...

Re: Overcoming Dissatisfaction ("Woe Is Me") and Accepting?
I denied I had sleep apnoea for about 10 years and dreaded the thought of using CPAP. Something finally 'clicked' as my health continued to unravel. I was 'sleeping' 11 hours a night and struggling to stay awake during the day. I had high blood pressure, bad acid reflux, my memory was shot and I was...

Re: Menieres & SleepApnea
I have had Meniere's since the 1990s. I followed the typical stages (if there is such a thing) for one sided Meniere's. I have been in the 'burnt out' stage for several years with impaired balance (especially in the dark) tinnitus and severe hearing loss. I no longer have major episodes(no spinning/...

Re: what does a sleep study cost
I did a home study bulk bill and $50 copay. I was ripped off, as I found out later. you can do a public hospital for free some labs will bulk bill if they have their own set up and are bulk bill and free. You can also do private hospitals and a nil or small copay, depending on your chosen insurance...

Re: DreamStation AmaraView: Mask Fit numbers are bad
I have been using the Amara View for over a year now. My time above the leak rate threshold (24l/min) was 15% or more at the beginning. I had a beard. I was wearing it too tight. I didn't have a clue on how to adjust it to reduce leaks! First thing I did was lose the beard. Now I shave at night befo...

Re: ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet specific questions
The Resmed time at pressure graph has a VERY faint line in the background that has me stumped (not difficult these days). Please explain. If you move your cursor to where the faint line peaks, it will show you the number and type of event and the pressure. For instance, last night I had 1 clear air...

Re: Last 2 days have been miserable. Grrrrr
Hi, I, too have been on CPAP for about a year, was prescribed fixed pressure of 13 and have a Resmed AirSense 10 Autoset. Untreated, I have 2 or three periods per night of high obstructive events, presumably during REM sleep. Through gradual and careful changing of my settings in AUTO mode, I have g...
