Re: I am nearly completely disabled. Is Apnea the culprit????

I was very skeptical at first, too, after I Ianded in the hospital with heart rhythm problems and they told it was due to untreated sleep apnea. But the more I learned, the more I understood it's not really about "a good night's sleep" at all. It's about stopping breathing and the brain thinking you...

Re: Newbie - 4th night on CPAP - sore nostril

I use the Burt's Bee's regular peppermint beeswax lip balm around the nostrils and upper lip; helps the pillows stay in place, too. You just don't want to use anything petroleum based. You might also try the medium pillows. Even though I'm a woman with fairly small nostrils, I tried the small size s...

Re: Sleep Apnoea links to Menopause

my doc told me after menopause the lack of hormones can cause the tissue to be flabbier, collapsing the airway. I really think that my sleep apnea came on after menopause and I only just discovered it several years later.

Re: Aid to fall asleep?

Once in a while, if I'm hurting and exhausted I take a tylenol PM or something like that. (shrugs). helps, but I wouldn't want to take it all the time.

Re: sleep apnea/vitamin defecent

I had low B12 and low Vit D; this time around I'm again low Vit D, even though I've been taking D3 supplements. So now I have to take a course of these weird black gel D2 pills.

related to sleep apnea? no clue, but no good either. worth it to get your blood checked for these things next dr. appt.

Change for the better after 3 months

I'm happy to report I'm doing well on the therapy after 3 months and things have improved. I feel more alert and "clearer" -- if that makes sense. Although I didn't think I had sleep problems before (heart problems, yes; sleep problems, no) I've noticed lately I need less sleep than the 8-9 hours I ...

terrible. I don't know why I have the discipline to take all my meds every day, use the machine every day, and not have the discipline to eat right. Can't seem to do it.

Re: I need Help w/disassembly of Airfit F10 mask please

Don't feel bad -- I don't have that mask, but I got to say that puttling my headset together the first few times was quite challenging, as I have poor directional ability. But I figured it out!

Re: New here and frustrated by the whole CPAP thing

I've been waiting to feel some sort of benefit from using the machine - less sleepiness, better concentration, improved memory... Nada - I don't feel any benefit from the machine at all. Even after 8 hours uninterrupted sleep with the machine, I still wake up exhausted - just as tired as I did befo...

Re: Where to buy machines cheap and like new

Can someone tell me where I should look to buy a new or like new machine for my husband. He can't afford to have a sleep study done but definitely has sleep apnea because of the snoring and constantly waking up gasping and he doesn't even know he does it. Please any help would be appreciated. I can...

Article on Sleep

sharing this article that came up on my FB feed. It is, I believe, in the form of a written interview with Dr. Michael Grandner: http://vanwinkles.com/understanding-sleep-as-a-public-health-issue?extra Here's what it says about sleep apnea: "You mentioned one study that found black residents in the ...
