Re: Help me pick a backup/replacement machine for my Dreamstation 1
Your mask can be used with any brand cpap, except some tiny "travel" machines. If your defective machine is under 5 years old, do not expect insurance to help. P-R is tied up with thousands of replacements. You will see yours when you see it. Otherwise, you are on your own. Considering how long res...

Help me pick a backup/replacement machine for my Dreamstation 1
Hi, I registered for the recall back at the beginning of October, 2021 and I have no idea how/when or if I'll be getting the recall replacement. I'm moving out of the US in July, and I'd really like to have a 2nd machine lined up before then. I've actually been quite happy with my Dreamstation, espe...

Re: Auto CPAP for travel? where to even start?
If you are going to setup in your hotel or vacation destination there are limitations with these devices (otherwise we would just all go out and buy the mini versions to begin with?). Humidification gets more complicated, some require you to use their specific mask, etc. +1 Gramps and I are not fan...

Auto CPAP for travel? where to even start?
Hi - I've been using the DreamStation Auto CPAP DSX500H11 for nearly 2 years now, and have been very fortunate with the results. It's set to 10, and I use the humidifier every night (but where I live, humidity under 20% is pretty common). So... I travel internationally 3 or 4 times a year (US to UK ...

Re: Newbie would like to hear success stories, please.
So, a little more than 5 months in, and I thought I'd post an update. Like a lot of people, I had a bit of a rough start, but reading through these success stories really helped for me, so hopefully, others might get a bit of encouragement from my experiences. A few tips. First, set small, realistic...

Understanding my SleepyHead numbers
I'm not 28 days in, and things certainly seem to be heading in the right direction. I'm definitely getting used to the mask and the pressure, which was my first goal. My CPAP machine is now part of my sleeping. Now, I'm starting to focus a bit on my numbers and see what can be done to fine tune thin...

Re: New User can't breathe with CPAP machine
Hi, I'm about 3 weeks ahead of you on this process. And, I also have issues with seasonal allergies. And, just like you, I used to have a very hard time exhaling (or, it sure felt that way). So... here's what I did. First, in addition to my sleep doc, I've also been seeing an ear, nose and throat sp...

Re: Newbie would like to hear success stories, please.
probably too early to call it a success story, but how about an encouraging start story. I'm 8 days in, and have already started to enjoy the benefits of finally treating this nasty condition. In hindsight, I most likely have been dealing with OSA for at least the last 10 years, muddling through. Bl...

Re: CPAP and Carry On Travel
I'm a little more than a week into my CPAP therapy, and I have a business trip to our office in Scotland for a little over a week. While I feel confident about the flight there, I'll be facing a gate agent in Glasgow and again in AMS on the way back, and I'd rather avoid the hassle. So, for the firs...

Re: Newbie needs help falling asleep
oh - I forgot to ask; how do I find out if my machine works with SleepyHead software? there will be a beta of sleepyhead out soon that will support your machine, or you can compile your own copy today (it's really surprisingly easy.... I'm not a windows person and I got one to compile a couple days...

Re: Newbie needs help falling asleep
I listen to podcasts to help me fall asleep. Something about the human voice just puts me right out. Music keeps me awake. The podcasts also mask the sound of the machine, so I feel less like I have to pace my breathing to match it. For years I have used an in ear earbud, and I had to wake enough t...

Re: Newbie needs help falling asleep
What are your pressures set at? You shouldn't try to breathe for the machine - it's supposed to be the other way around - not that the machine also 'makes' you breathe, but it does adjust to your pattern so it can fix apneas. However, you said you're woken by inhalation, and that sounds like an apn...

Newbie needs help falling asleep
HI, first post here I picked up my CPAP machine 7 days ago. My first experience with being on a machine was during my sleep study, and it didn't go well. I started with a full-face mask, but felt very claustrophobic. I switched to a mask that just covered the nose, and that was a lot better, but I t...
