If the leaks are out your mouth, try a chin strap or a cervical collar or mouth tape. If you're going the chin strap route get the Knightsbridge Dual Band chin strap, it's the only one that is designed to actually work. (The standard neoprene ones wrap around the tip of your chin and the force is d...

Last time I used software was sleepyhead. Hopefully, I'll have enough mental stamina to do this! Again, thanks! oscar IS pretty much sleepyhead. sleepyhead is dead, due to it's main author killing it. oscar is being updated even as we speak. if you used sleepyhead, you'll have no trouble with oscar...

Re: Doc says leak rate of 36 L/m and belowis okay... but

Could you say more about how the leaks disturb your sleep? Not the sound, but what? Also, could you let us know what your AHI is? And do you think you wake up a lot during the night? You continue to feel tired and sleepy during the day, and I'm wondering why. My AHI is always below 5. I don't wake ...

Re: Doc says leak rate of 36 L/m and belowis okay... but

Also, your facial muscles will relax later at night, and may cause leaks. This is often why you have the leaks under control when you go to bed, but during night the leak rates go up. Sheriff Thanks, I use the Ruby chinstrap. It holds the chin snuggly, so I think the leak is coming from my lips. Th...

Re: Doc says leak rate of 36 L/m and belowis okay... but

Your Resmed machine can compensate leak levels up to 24 L/m in the autoset mode. After 24 L/m, the machine will go crazy and give inaccurate results. Your Doc was partially right. You need to get those leak rates down. Sheriff Thanks, Sheriff for that info. ResMed has the MyAir webpage that shows "...

Re: Doc says leak rate of 36 L/m and belowis okay... but

I'm seeing a new sleep doc, great reputation. highly reputable hospital. He believes a leak rate of anything under 36 L/m is acceptable. This sounds wrong. (Incidentals): I) I'm going by ResMed AirSense-10 data and MyAir). 2) Amazing anyone would think data can be accurate with the "Mask Off" featu...

Need Battery Backup (Fast!)

I have an AirSense 10 and I just want the names of some batteries that will last a few days in case we get the possible hurricane being formed according to the news today. I'm going to Home Depot or Lowe's and I'm assuming it'll cost around $125 or so. I want to plug it in and forget about it. (The ...

Re: Sleeping sitting up with adjustable bed frame

You should have told the Tech, his boss gave you the secret handshake. As far as computers, if they won't do what you need what good are they. I used to build my own, now I'm forced to use laptops, but I make sure they will handle what I throw at them. Jim (this is computer tech talk in response to...

Re: Sleeping sitting up with adjustable bed frame

Don't/won't know for sure unless you have a sleep study done sitting up in whatever position you end up wanting to try. It might reduce the frequency or severity of the apnea events to a level that it isn't that big of a deal and it might not. I will share this...I will sometimes fall asleep on the...

Re: Sleeping sitting up with adjustable bed frame

Not sure how upright you plan to be. For my apneas to not be a problem, I have to be nearly upright but leaned back just enough that my head won't drop forward. Even then it is not perfect. Leaning back just a bit puts the tongue is a position to relax back into the throat. Since when I sleep sitti...

Re: Sleeping sitting up with adjustable bed frame

Any recommendations of what angle the head should be will be greatly appreciated. Start out the first night at about 20 degrees. If you have a comfortable night, bump it up a little each night. You will know when you get to a point where the angle is too high. What is your APAP pressure range? Hi G...
