Re: Wake up feeling like I'm suffocating and no air is blowing.

I don't think it's an electrical issues because I have a fan running from the same outlet but I will check all connections to be sure. I'm not too familiar with reading Sleepyhead data but here is part of the graph. The two blank sections represent eight and seven minute time-frames, respectively. I...

Wake up feeling like I'm suffocating and no air is blowing.

Periodically, I wake up at night feeling like I am suffocating and when I put my hand in front of the air venting holes, there is no air blowing. Seconds after that, the machine starts blowing air again. During these events, I am not fully awake so my perception is that the machine is simply not blo...

Re: Upcoming Gallbladder Surgery -Terrified of Anesthesia

I had my gallbladder out in March and the only issue I had with anasthesia was that it took me a little longer to fully come out of it. I have very severe OSA (AHI = 115) and weigh 400 lbs and am probably a worst case scenario and it wasn't a big deal. It's normal to be nervous but you will be in th...

Re: Changing settings on machine and insurance coverage

My comment about being too lazy to pull the card was just in reference to my spur-of-the-moment decision to calculate my AHI average. If pulling the card to monitor is preferable to just reading the machine's readout, I have no problem with doing that. But, at this time I don't have the knowledge to...

Re: Changing settings on machine and insurance coverage

At this point, I'm a bit confused as to who I should contact about changing the settings, at least until my 60 day insurance compliance check. I got the BiPAP machine from one company, it was prescribed by a sleep specialist/pulmonologist and now I go to a sleep center as well. I guess I need to fig...

Re: Whistling, leaking hateful little thing

I've decided that at least for me, as long as my pressure is so high, I'm not going to be leak-proof without discomfort from a very, very tight mask. Having said that, I've read on this forum, been told by a respiratory therapist and experienced for myself that my Fisher & Paykel Simplus is a very g...

Changing settings (UPDATED WITH SLEEPYHEAD DATA)

I know there are no absolutes but generally speaking and based on personal experience, has anyone changed the settings on their machine and then had insurance refuse to pay? I just figured out it is even possible to change my settings but I haven't messed them for fear of my insurance nailing me for...

Re: POLL: What was your sleep study AHI?

AHI = 115 for me. Before the BiPap, I felt like I dreamed all night long. Now, I feel like I hardly ever dream at all. I've heard that if you remember your dreams, supposedly that means that you woke up in the middle of them. Maybe this means that you're sleeping through your dreams now? Just what ...

Re: Problems with leaks and mask comfort

It takes a lot of trial and error to get mask leaks and comfort under control. If the straps are too tight or too loose, excessive leaking occurs. The straps should be snug enough to hold tight without hurting you... use mask fit option, and read the instructions in your manual. Some YouTube videos...

Problems with leaks and mask comfort

I'm using an Aircurve 10 VAuto with settings of 24/20 and a Simplus full face mask. The first week or so went well but now I'm struggling with leaks. In order to stop leaks, I have to have the mask so tight that it hurts and the horizontal straps keep riding up under my earlobes. I usually get leaks...

Re: Introducing myself

I've been upping the humidifier level one notch each night and last night I got water spray in my mask again (I think I was on "6" for the humidifier). Does the heated hose completely alleviate this and do I need a prescription for it? Will setting the machine lower than the mattress help? They are ...

Re: Introducing myself

Your pressure setting sound like they are similar to mine (15-20 EPAP and 20-25 IPAP). Just hang in there, and it will get better. I have found it is hard to get the ask to seal at that pressure. When I picked up my equipment, the DME said there were very few FFM that would seal at that pressure. I...

Introducing myself

I was finally diagnosed with Severe OSA (ASI = 115) a couple of weeks ago and started BiPAP therapy two nights ago. I'm using an AirCurve 10 set at 25/20 with a full face mask. So far, I've done two nights of therapy. The first night I only slept about 4 hours but last night I went to bed at 8:00, w...
