Re: OT--Shoulder Surgery.
Loose stretchy t shirts with wide necks - or loose shirts. Dress the sore arm first, undress the sore arm last. Elasticated trousers usually easier. Long-handled sponge for washing, Terry towel dressing gown helps with drying. Usually want to keep the fingers moving - hopefully has been given specif...

Re: Dryness.
I have a full face mask with my apap, I would certainly try going on manual if auto hasn't been helping. My sinuses tend to be fine on a lower setting but my mouth does tend to need it higher, and i still use a product called xylimelts which works well for me, little tablet sit in the mouth and enco...

Re: Help with redness below mouth
Agree mask liners could help whether it is pressure marks or drool related - they will absorb a bit of it. If you use cream at night, avoid things like vasoline or anything with petroleum- there's a risk of lipid pneumonia with cpap. Some people find using as lotion to close to bed makes the seal wo...

Re: Lower back pain & sleeping on the side
For side Sleeping, a pillow of some sort between the legs is probably the best answer. To be fair sleeping on your back should normally have a pillow under your knees too. Why did you stop sleeping on your back? Although wind is often better sleeping on your side, and your settings might need tweete...

Re: Ok, Enough's Enough.. Surgery Advice please :(
The DVLA only want you to be using the machine 4 hours a night. They don't even check effectiveness, so don't let the thought of them influence how you set your machine. Getting it right will increase compliance and improve your ahi, and this board was a huge help to me getting the benefit from a be...

I am UK based too, and safe to say the NHS is very much postcode lottery when it comes to sleep apnoea. Unsurprisingly! Which clinic are you with - I'm Edinburgh. When i adjusted my pressures i got knowing looks but no comments - they are not supposed to endorse us self managing, but the good staff ...

Re: The elderly have thin skin
Generally for good skin In terms of the elderly and preventing pressure sores, a good diet, a very good fluid intake and a good moisturiser are important. Of you are very dry you may want something more heavy duty than the standard face creams and body lotions. Specifically for cpap, finding the rig...

Re: OT - Jar Opener
i use this one http://www.lakeland.co.uk/7706/Jarkey-Screw-Top-Jar-Opener and this one http://www.lakeland.co.uk/7704/2-Jar-Opener-Lid-Grippers both work well, the gripper is good if you just need a bit of help, the jarkey breaks the seal so it just unscrews easily. i work with the elderly and most ...

Re: Pressure Sore with Resmed FX Quattro - for 2 months.. help!
You need a new healthcare professional, you don't mess around with pressure sores (and that looks like it needs proper attention). Practice nurses are normally the best for pressure sores, there's a variety of creams and dressings available depending on what stage it is at. If you can't change mask ...

Re: First night tonight...any advice/tips?
If you are a mouth breather, having a nasal msk s your first pne os an interesting move - can you breath ok thrligh your nose but just tend not to? As long as you are optimistic, for your first night I think just getting it on and seeing how it goes is the best approach! No point looking for problem...

Re: unintended side effect of my cpap experience
my teeth also moved, i have a wire on top as they havent moved as much, and retainer on bottom as they had moved too much for the wire, and i cant afford braces to get them back to normal. should have acted quicker, but there you go.
