Re: hypopnea just as bad as apnea?
Thanks Pugsy. I'm not sure what defines a truckload, but it looks like I will have anywhere from 6-12 or so a night. usually spaced out, but occasionally 4 or 5 clustered together. Are flow limitations as bad? I would say I have a lot of those.

Re: hypopnea just as bad as apnea?
I tend to have a lot of these as well. Will pressure adjustments help to relieve them?

Re: Newbie overwhelmed & trying to get started
thats the amount of air pressure your Dr prescribed for a setting on your machine. Its what's believed to be the pressure necessary for keeping your apnea at bay. For example, I'm on a APAP and my settings are min 6 max 18. You MIGHT want to make changes to it as you go depending on how things go. I...

Re: No relief yet
I'm a side sleeper with a full face mask. I fold a corner of the pillow under to give it a little more support. Then lay my head so that the mask is just off the pillow. Keeps it from moving and shifting. There are cpap pillows you could look at as well.

Re: Sleepyhead ?
First thing i look at is the AHI number. Then the graph that has all the events in it. And third I look at the pressure graph. If my AHI is below 1 I dont look further usually. If it's between 1 and 2 (rarely go over 2), i look at the events and pressure to see what happened. Usually it's from rolli...

Aren't the filters more to keep dust out of the machine than for the air you're breathing? As was said already, you're just breathing in room air. I thought the filters were just to help keep the machine clean inside.

Re: No relief yet
It took me 6 weeks to really feel much in the way of an energy increase. Even then I'd say it's noticeable but subtle. Some people here say they get it night 1, others a few months or longer. It seems to vary widely by individual. I think it took me a couple weeks to stop waking up, mostly because o...

Re: New User – First Night!
That choking/gasping/not able to breathe feeling. I dealt with that by wearing it during the day while watching tv or reading or doing anything but sleeping. It's an adjustment to how you breathe. You might also be trying to breathe with it. That's what I did. I kept trying to get my breathing to sy...

Re: dented face with mask
I use that mask. You dont want it too tight. You should feel the rubbery seal "inflate" when the air comes on. It needs to be cushiony. Also, try fitting it while laying in your sleep position(s). I'm a side sleeper so I put it on and set it up while sitting, then laid down and it leaked. I also tig...

Re: No longer need CPAP?
I've been on mine for almost three months. After getting diagnosed and doing my research I came to the unfortunate realization that this is forever unless some new technology comes along. I'm not holding my breath for that. So, yeah, I figure I'm on this thing the rest of my life. That being said, a...

Re: Struggling new Cpap user
I have a similar issue with stuffiness once I lay down. I can breath just fine through my nose when I'm upright, but once I'm horizontal it's hit or miss. Therefore, I'm a mouth breather and use the full face mask. My preferred sleeping position is on my side and stomach. This makes it a bit of a ch...

Re: Nothing working mask made tinnitus worse
I have tinnitus. Some times it's worse than others. But I don't believe my cpap machine is affecting it at all. I find the ever so slight noise it makes from the mask seems to drown it a bit. I also use a white noise app on my phone, which I connect to a speaker that helps drown it. As I'm typing th...

Re: First time Simplus assembly
You might want to lay down with it and the machine on and make your minor adjustments to get it to fit. It should fit as loose as possible while still not allowing leaks.

Re: New CPAP user
I have the F&P Simplus. Though I am a newbie (almost 2 mos), and it's the only mask I've had, I do like it. It settles well once you've got it at the right amount of tightness, not too tight. The outer soft rubbery part has to "inflate" a little when it comes on. It's comfortable to the point I hard...
