Mask exhaust noise - revisited

OK Gang: I have the solution!!! My Comfort Gel was silent last night! I took the pointy end of a geometry compass, and pushed in into the slot where the exhaust comes out, in a few spots. This opened up the slot just enough that there was absolutely NO NOISE when I exhaled. It also seemed to elimina...

Exhaust noise

Hi everyone: Have switched to a Respironics Comort Gel Nasal mask for about a month. Love the mask, very comfortable, not much leaking. The only thing that is driving me slightly batty is the noise from the exhaust port. Any suggestions on how to cut down on this? Any help much appreciated. Steve.

Hi: Hello to a fellow Canuck! Sorry you're having such problems with your therapy. I've been on a machine for 14 months now, and it really has changed my life - more energy, more alert, weight loss, etc. I've been one of the fortunate ones, and have been 99.9% compliant. I also have had long-term na...

Hey everyone: I've been using Bret's little device for the last three nights, and have been sleeping like a baby. My one concern was if the device could be used with my machine, since with the heated hose, I couldn't break the electrical connection between the hose and the machine. I got around this...

Letter to the editor

Hi everyone: It's been awhile since I've posted, but things are still going really good with the therapy (almost at 1700 hrs.!!). I never miss a chance to spread the word about our condition, and have in fact got 3 other people on the machine. I noticed an article in on of our national papers (The N...

Grey's Anatomy

Hi everyone: Just wondering if anybody else watches Grey's Anatomy (my wife makes me!). On the last show, Meredith was keeping McDreamy awake with her snoring. Wonder if she has apnea? What are the chances that she'll be hooked up to an xpap next week - probably won't be quite as sexy with a heated ...

Hi: I've been on CPAP since May/06, and I have to say that one of the most pleasant surprises from the treatment was the cessation of my usual night time trips to the loo. Before treatment, I probably averaged about 2 trips a night. After, it has completely stopped. I believe it has something to do ...

Thankful

Happy Thanksgiving to all our American neighbours! We've already had ours up here in the frozen north. But I am also thankful for this wonderful forum and all the advice I've read about the cpap journey. It has truly changed my life and helped me get thru a very tough year. Karen, I notice your "quo...

Heres an idea I had today (haven't tried it yet). Has anyone ever tried cleaning their mask with a polident tablet and water? After all, if its safe enough to put in your mouth (i.e. your dentures after cleaning) wouldn't it be OK for your mask. Interested to hear your feed-back.

Steve.

Hey there: I was also one of the lucky ones - felt way better right from the start, and really didn't have any major equipment problems. I've been on the xpap for over 6 months now, and wouldn't dream (ha ha) of sleeping without it. I do think there is a honeymoon period, which gradually fades to an...

Headgear adjustment

Here's my helpful revelation. It just came to me this weekend when I was cleaning the headgear. I realized that when I first started treatment 6 months ago, I was adjusting the headgear so that the straps were mirror images of each other re: length. This was not always effective vis a vis comfort an...

It still amazes me that the world's richest country cannot provide this type of medical care for its citizens. I find this a pitiful situation for someone to be in. You obviously need this treatment, but have these financial obstacles in your way. My heart goes out to you. Certainly its not my inten...

1000 Hour Club!!

Hey everyone: Just a note to say that last night I joined the 1000 hour club! I hope my secong thousand hours go as easily as the first thousand. I have to admit that I feel guilty sometimes about how easily I've taken to the therapy, and when I read about the problems other people are having. Its m...

Very gratifying moment

Hi everyone: I've been on the machine now since May, and have become quite a advocate for CPAP to people I know. So far, I've gotten 3 other people on the machine. Anyways, today one of my employees came up to me to thank me for getting him to go for a sleep study. He got his machine last week, and ...

Jaw pain

Does anyone else have a sore jaw when you wake up in the morning? It feels like I've been clenching my jaw all night. I use a nasal mask with no mouth-taping, and I'm pretty sure I keep my mouth shut all night (something my wife didn't think possible!!)

Thanks,

Steve.
