Re: Way to go you Idiots
Like many others, I will miss you and the common sense answers you have given to people. It will indeed be a sad day when you are no longer giving your great advice and sharing your vast knowledge with the rest of us. I understand your feelings as we can all see the bickering and name calling going ...

Re: dented face with mask
I use the same mask. I keep the straps as loose as I can, and still get a good seal. My mask tends to rise up on my face at night, so I run two pieces of tape from the mask to under my chin. This keeps the mask down where I want it.

Re: I need help.
I contacted the sleep center on my own. You don't need a referral unless your insurance requires it. The sleep center I contacted has doctors on staff that will meet with you and determine if you need to do a sleep study.

Re: FFM vs. nasal pillows
A sleep tech at the doctor's office recommended nasal pillows when I had a large sore on my nose. My machine is set for 20-25 cm H2O IPAP. Obviously they work with higher pressures. I couldn't use them because I am a mouth breather.

Re: Problems with leaks and mask comfort
As strange as it may sound, try loosening the straps. I also use the simplus mask. If you use the mask fit function, wait until it comes up to full pressure, then tighten the straps until the leaks stop. The seal will inflate once the machine comes up to pressure. I used to pull my straps tight unti...

Re: PadACheek help please?
I tried the liners on two different masks I had, and could not get a good seal with either one. I have found moleskin placed on the nose at night keeps it from getting sore. The moleskin was a suggestion of one of the DME people I have worked with. She said her husband has been using it for a long t...

Re: Whistling from mask?
I doubt if it's caused by the humidity. I use the simplus FFM and have my humidity level set at 8. Mine has never whistled, but I constantly fight leaks with it. I use a pretty high pressure (20-25 cm H2O IPAP). On the rare occasion I clean my mask, I use a soft brush to make sure the holes are clear.

Re: Poll: Should OT posts be banned from cpaptalk.com?
Personally, I am not bothered by the OT posts. What bothers me, and almost drove me away from here is the occasional sniping and offensive comments that take place. Like everyone else, I came here looking for help, and have found it. Being a relatively new XPAP user (five months), I try not to give ...

Re: Medicare Rules or Ripoffs
Medicare has very specific procedures and documentation requirements that must be followed in the proper sequence. As a result, I ended up having two sleep studies and two titration studies, two different sleep doctors, and two different DMEs in eight months trying to meet their requirements. Everyt...

Re: Couldn't help but laugh when going to my DME branch today
I guess I'm lucky. When I switched sleep doctors, the DME they work with is part of the same top level hospital system. They have been very supportive and work closely with each other.

I use a medium memory foam mattress on an adjustable bed. It's just like sleeping in a comfortable recliner.

Re: Cpap Help
I had my tonsils and adenoids removed as a child, and I had soft palate surgery in 1996 0r 1997. At that time, I had a badly deviated septum corrected, cleaned out the sinus cavities, removed the uvula and reshaped much of the soft palate. This helped for a few years at the most. I am now on bipap t...

Re: O2 consentraters-anyone own one? Rent one?
I was on O2 for almost a year while waiting to get my bipap. When I was in the hospital for knee replacement surgery, it was noted that my O2 level was dropping during the night. My doctor requested an overnight oximetry test after I went home, and had an O2 concentrater delivered the next day. I us...

Re: Introducing myself
Your pressure setting sound like they are similar to mine (15-20 EPAP and 20-25 IPAP). Just hang in there, and it will get better. I have found it is hard to get the ask to seal at that pressure. When I picked up my equipment, the DME said there were very few FFM that would seal at that pressure. I ...
