Re: Dealing with work and sleep apnea
Have you notified them of your condition?Everything is such a delicate balance. And I have been written up for the amount of time I have been absent as well. It just seems like crap, and trying to fire me for cause that's covered by the ADA.

Re: Dealing with work and sleep apnea
This is a good read- see the article on Sleep Apnea and Employment Issues: http://www.sleepapnea.org/assets/files/newsletters/newslettersu2006.pdf Taking a PTO day now and then (when you have accrued paid time off hours) probably is not a big deal, but I'm sure it gets trickier when you ask for acco...

Re: Dealing with work and sleep apnea
I just have to live with it. Make sure I have access to plenty of caffeine. x2 The time between when I was diagnosed and when I got my machine was not very long. Of course who knows how long I went with it being undiagnosed. It would be very interesting to hear from people that had to leave/miss wo...

Re: Leaks with Swift FX Nasal Pillows
I believe you're mistaken, lanolin is recommended to help the sore nose that sometimes (often?) accompanies starting to use a nasal pillow mask. I used it when i first started with a pillow mask, after a week or two, I didn't need it anymore. if you think about it, lanolin is going to do the same t...

Re: Leaks with Swift FX Nasal Pillows
I'm curious to see the more experienced user's responses to your questions. I had two for you though: 1) What is your cleaning schedule for the pillows? From what I read in Resmed's website facial oils can affect the seal. Also, by other's experiences I recently started using lanolin on my nostrils ...

Re: Uncompassionate company tht supplies health care products
Bad move to p!$$ off people that are already aggravated from not getting enough sleep- that's a recipe for disaster! I had no trouble with my DME in getting the equipment I wanted- now after checking with insurance company after the fact it looks like I was overcharged by $500 or so. It looks like I...

Re: Beard and AirFit F10
I didn't think any other option besides a full face mask would work as I didn't want to use a chin strap. Now is this what the doctor or DME said (that you needed A FFM)? Are you a mouth breather? The reason I ask is that I use an AirFit P-10 (nasal pillow) and that mask avoids my beard altogether.

Re: newly diagnosed seeking support and answers
Since I am new as well I will let others comment on "the best machine available". The response I imagine will come is that it is a personal choice as is mask type, and of course different machines have different functionalities. But the main thing seems to be to get a machine that is data capable so...

Re: Sleepyhead Data- opinions/thoughts
Thank you for your replies Krelvin and Pugsy. That is what I thought- just wanted to confirm with more experienced folks.
I am used to being on "thin ice" with my wife so I might as well be on it with my DME and doctor as well.

Re: Sleepyhead Data- opinions/thoughts
Thanks for the reply- I will make that change tonight and will report back in several days. Has anyone experienced negative consequences from changing their settings from what their sleep doctor originally prescribed when the changes made improved sleep quality (AHI lowered) without consulting with ...

Re: Newbie would like to hear success stories, please.
I love and cherish good, quality sleep. I would wear scuba gear to bed if I thought that it would help me sleep better. But alas, I don't have to- just a small APAP machine and nasal pillow mask works for me. After 3 weeks I am feeling better day by day. It is not like one day after I felt I could c...

Re: Sleepyhead Data- opinions/thoughts
Below are the last three nights after changing to APAP mode 5 min max 20 (from CPAP fixed 5). I feel that my numbers based on the data and how I feel has improved. I feel that it can be better. If anyone else doesn't have any suggestions or objections I am going to take palerider's advice and set my...
