Philips Respironics gripe - not recall related

Their Trilogy Evo, the latest version of the Trilogy ventilator (100, 200, 202 are previous models) no longer uses their already almost impossible to find DirectView software to download and monitor patient data. They are making it essentially impossible for the patient to view and follow their own ...

Re: Inogen G5 Carry Bag

I use 7' nasal cannulas from salter labs or westmed when I am moving around. For my stationary concentrator i use a 25ft cannula, and 25ft supply tubing when I sleep. You can get these in bulk on Amazon, but I recommend first finding one that you like.

Re: IPAP/EPAP pressure changes & mask comfort

Talk to your pulmonologist about using a ventilator that can use an active circuit. They use a separate exhalation valve and if you don't have OSA, you can turn the EPAP entirely off.

Re: Correct settings for AVAPS?

I have shallow breathing and sleep apnea. I'm not surprised the settings don't make sense-I set it up myself. Your target tidal volume that you set is probably irrelevant. If you look at the basic parameters of your settings you have: IPAP Min 15 IPAP Max 17 EPAP 15 So a min PS of 0 and a max PS of...

Re: Correct settings for AVAPS?

I have some sleep apnea which is supposedly remedied at a pressure of 7 cm or so, combined with very shallow breathing when I sleep. I switched from an autoasv vpap resmed 9 with a pressure support of 6 and epap or ipap of 9-15. New machine is a Philips System 1 bipap AVAPS C series dom 30 that I b...

Re: Earplugs

First is finding a mask that you like with diffused venting, second is using a white noise machine like the Lectrofan. For me, it's worth the purchase over using a free phone app -- I like that the sounds don't loop, it doesn't require using my phone, which I don't like to keep in bed, I found the ...

Re: daily tub cleaning?

I wash the mask and humidifier chamber once a week in warm soapy water. I do this mainly out of habit, and it's nice to get the "gunk" off the mask cushion since I'm a mouth breather. Really doesn't take more than 2-3 minutes. I use distilled water in the humidifier chamber since I get my groceries ...

Re: FDA Update: Certain Philips Respironics Ventilators, BiPAP, and CPAP Machines Recalled Due to Potential Health Risks

What's really devastating is the impact on ventilator dependent patients, who essentially have no choice but to continue to use their devices. The Trilogy 100, except for the foam issue, has been an excellent portable ventilator that is simple to use and versatile. The newer Trilogy Evo feels like a...

my throat gets kind of dry Which mask are you using? bi-levels humidifier Do you have the setting maxed out? Which setting are you using? Do you run out of water during the night? F&P Simplus or F&P Vitera, both are full face masks. I generally have the climate control on auto, so auto humidity and...

Re: Machine makes me unable to inhale... Does this happen to anyone?

That lengthy flatline is machine triggered breaths. It means you are not syncing well with the machine and/or it's not set up correctly for you. A longer Ti min and very high cycle sensitivity are kind of opposing forces. The cycle setting says you want to shift to Exhalation fast, but Ti min forces...

Re: Philips Respironics Recall V2.0 Questions and Answers

Seems like unless you can be visited by the DS2 fairy, you are screwed for a long while with any of their other bi-level or ventilator devices. I have two registered machines and haven't heard anything useful after being registered.

Re: Machine makes me unable to inhale... Does this happen to anyone?

How do you guys think? Any comments are appreciated. My setting: Va target: 4.1L/min Resp Rate: 13/min Max EPAP: 6.0 Min EPAP: 3.0 Ti Min: 1.1S Ti Max: 2.0S Any reason your min EPAP is so low, and max EPAP so locked down? To minimize CO2 rebreathing in a simple vented mask setup, a min EPAP of 4cm ...

Re: Machine makes me unable to inhale... Does this happen to anyone?

Maybe I'm missing something, Yes. but the ASV seems more appropriate here. Since the iVAPS is a rare machine, it's not surprising you don't know what it does. Well, I do know what it does. Nowhere in the OP does he/she discuss respiratory insufficiency, from my reading anyway. ResMed states CSA tre...
