Re: Had my first pulmolnology appointment today
Was your chest x-ray clear of anything abnormal? Usually they look for any scarring of the lungs, and/or if the pulmonary arteries or ventricles of the heart are enlarged. What test did you have done on the 15th? The full pulmonary function test? What tests have you had done so far? Have you done an...

Re: Still tired, I have data.
Do you have a recording pulse oximeter? While it's not definitive, you could wear it at night with no PAP equipment. if you did indeed see abnormal data as a result it would be reasonable to suspect sleep-disordered breathing. Of course, a normal pulse ox recording does not rule anything out, but it...

Re: Question about AHI & Sleep quality
According to the pressure recordings, there are times that the machine goes above 8cm h2o - which before, at a set pressure, the machine could not. And then on the lower end, since the min pressure is now 6cm h2o, the machine is also not able to prevent some events that were prevented before at 8cm ...

Re: CPAP vs. BiPAP
I have a ResMed AirCurve 10S (regular bi-level with set IPAP/EPAP pressures, there is nothing automatic about it) that you can have for real cheap. I bought it from secondwindcpap and barely ever used it. Send me a PM if you're interested.

Drooling into the mask
I have been having a problem where I am apparently drooling into the mask when I sleep. I am not using a humidifier so the moisture is coming from me and not anywhere else. I do not wake up with a dry mouth or a stuffed up nose. It's not a ton of moisture, but it is a bit of an uncomfortable feeling...

Re: High Pressure Setting
Having a bit of room with the max pressure is important, but the min pressure is also very important. By setting the min pressure close to the therapeutic static CPAP pressure that works, hopefully you will be preventing most of the events.

Re: Cat chewing on my hose
My cat likes to curl up and lay next to my face blocking the exhaust vent lol. After a while of moving her away a few times, she now respects my mask and therapy.

Re: New Pressure new problems
I just happened to look at your pulse oximeter recording (I couldn't see the image at work). That spike down to 80% SpO2 is an artifact, but you do have sustained desaturations at around 85% for at least a few minutes, around twice that night, that are highly unlikely explained by obstructive sleep ...

Re: Trilogy 100 settings
The AVAPS rate of 5cm h2o is most likely not necessary and will likely be uncomfortable. AVAPS was never really designed for rapid IPAP changes. It will be better to tighten up the range of PS min and max so that the machine isn't constantly changing the IPAP pressure in a dramatic fashion in order ...

Re: New Pressure new problems
Have you tried using a full face mask for a night? Air blowing out of your mouth on exhalation may have some effect on your therapy. Worth a shot if you have one laying around.

Have you tried taping your mouth or using a FFM? I wonder how many of those "clear airways" are real.

Re: 4 year old BiPAP Mask help
The Philips Wisp Pediatric nasal mask is a good starting place. Usually more comfortable and not as daunting. She may end up breathing through her nose just fine, given adequate support with bi-level. If she sleeps in the lab (with you accompanying her) for a titration they will be able to tell if s...

Re: 8 months in and NOTHING
Pain in the butt though. I would push for a return on that machine, and get a ResMed ASV. No chance of that. Firstly, it's for an off label condition (uars) and secondly, it's the VA, and their contract in my area is with Phillips. And no, I'm not going to go through the hassle of Hyper-V or dual b...

Re: 8 months in and NOTHING
What are the installation errors you get with encore pro? I know with directview you have to enable old version of Microsoft .NET under optional features in the add/remove programs control panel on Windows 7/8/10. On EP2.0 I convinced it to get past the SQL error with Compatibility Mode, but that v...
