OSA will not keep them from giving you pain meds. While on pain meds that might knock you out, they will have you on cpap. To do the therapy you need to be awake and OSA isn't an issue then.

Re: Mask Humor
To keep pets away from the machine...just get a small pet carrier and put the machine in it. The pet carriers are well vented and fairly inexpensive. Some of the pet carriers are even kind of pretty. Best of all they will keep pets from playing with the buttons or damaging the machine!

Re: New here...
Welcome to the forum! Sounds like you got a helpfull DME, there aren't alot of them around! You got a very nice machine and it you should be happy with it. Actually you should be VERY happy with it. Wrapping the hose works fine, you can even use old socks or an old towel to wrap it. The mask is the ...

Re: first night on S9 AutoSet/ClimateLine Hose
The dryness is from mouth breathing. You can try raising the humidity a bit and see if it helps. There are also special mouth washes out there that may help, check with your local pharmacist. The hose doesn't really feel warm. If you coil it up and place it under a towel or pillow for a few minutes ...

Re: If I need chinstrap withFFM, why use FFM?
If your jaw drops too much when you sleep, a chin strap will help your mask keep a good seal. A chin strap doesn't always stop mouth breathing/leaking. You can try the nasal mask with the chin strap and see what your leaks look like. If they are in a reasonable range then you are good to go. I find ...

You need to contact your insurance to see just what they will cover. If they allow you get your own machine find out exactly what you need to do to get reimbursed.

Re: 12 years of CPAP without follow-up
Many/most of us do our own follow up by checking our data regularly. I check mine daily and keep an eye out for problems. I've been at this about 6 years and never saw a sleep doctor or had any follow up. Typical AHI 0.3. I adjust my ownpressure when needed, and my GP knows and approves.

Re: Excess Carbon dioxide in the mask?
That relaxing high you feel is likely due to deep breathing. When you mask up, do you find that you are taking deeper breaths than normal? Does your breathing feel rushed? You are finally getting to breath while you sleep, you're bound to feel different in the morning for a while.

Woo Hoo!!! It gets easier! Don't get discouraged by occasional bad nights, we all have them. Even if the numbers don't look great yet, sleeping through the night is a huge step!

Re: Dry mouth with a FFM
You can try upping the humidifier setting. You can also ask your pharmasist for a mouthwash to help with the dry mouth, there are a few different ones out there.

Re: Switching DMEs (yet again) .. this time Apria :( Any info?
I've been using apria since I started, almost 6 years now. In all this time they only got 1 order correct the first time. When my new S9 auto was deliverd it was left on the doorstep when I wasn't home, no signature required! To get filters I have to call every month and request them, they send 2 at...
