Re: CPAP and periodontal disease
Thanks so much for the insights. At my recent visit for a regular dental cleaning, I am suddenly needing a deep cleaning for the first time, and had some discussion with the dentist about the possible implications of the CPAP in early periodontal disease. Yes, I’ve been a mouth breather and tooth gr...

CPAP and periodontal disease
I’m looking for good information on the correlation between CPAP use and periodontal disease. If there is one, are there solutions (e.g. type of mask or machine?). Thanks!

Re: Transcend humidifier piece missing - need a hack
Thanks everyone! I knew there were a bunch of clever people in this group. I've picked up a little stopper that is actually the wrong size, but I managed to squeeze in in place by folding in in on itself, then used a double layer of duct tape over the top. I just didn't have time to scour every hard...

Re: Transcend humidifier piece missing - need a hack
Thanks for all the ideas! I used the unit with no humidifier alone last night. Very stuffy today, but probably better than no therapy at all. I will try to find some waterproof duct tape today. And I like the idea of the wet paper towel in the hose, will definitely keep that in mind. I bet that woul...

Transcend humidifier piece missing - need a hack
Hi friends, I'm travelling with a Transcend mini cpap and humidifier. The humidifier has a tiny "drain plug" in a corner of the tank that pops off to drain the water, a small, clear plastic valve. This piece has totally vanished and I can't use the humidifier without it. Its Sunday, there are no cus...

Re: Apnea, Bruxism and Non Allergic Rhinitis - ideas welcome
I am a two- year CPAP user and have found sinus relief in the past few months by using an inline bacterial filter. Nothing else helped my sinus issues and I was truly miserable with congestion. I still have issues but it's definitely better. Could be worth a try. https://www.cpap.com/productpage/res...

Re: A newbie message.
Hi Jeff: Just a few words of encouragement. It took me literally weeks if not months to adjust when I started 1 1/2 years ago. I was in the severe category also (65 episodes/hour, pressure 14). There was no magic answer to the adjustment. The best advice I got was to use the machine while awake (whi...

Re: Humidifier for Transcend CPAP
Pugsy: I travel several times a year, and the Transcend CPAP is SO convenient except for the humidty issue. I"ve been trying the heat moisture exchange add-on, but it isn't enough moisture for me, I don't think. This Fisher and Paykel humidfier might be a better option for me than the Trancend humid...

Humidifier for Transcend CPAP
Does anyone have experience with this humidifier? I am finding that the Transcend is almost unusable for me without humidification because I get such sinus congestion. I'm thinking of springing for the humidifier, but the reviews are quite mixed. Would appreciate your thoughts.

Re: 3rd night, can't do it!!!
I had the same issue! It took literally weeks to get through a night. I would count every breath all night long. I also recommend wearing the mask while waking, watching TV or reading. Also, try meditating with the machine on, to reinforcea relaxed state with the machine rather than an anxious state...

Re: Night #2 on CPAP & Dreading It
My first and second nights were pretty horrendous. Don't expect an immediate adjustment. Give it some time. Thanks my advice. Its worth it when you're finally acclimated and seeing the benefits of a good night's sleep. Good luck, you can do it!!

Thanks Mr Nifty: Those are pretty good results already -- great reasons to keep going. I like the Darth Vader thing!
