Re: Back with more questions after months of cpap frustration

Thx for the replies. Vapatient, no idea what you're talking about. if you've got something for me, you're going to have to get a little more specific. LSAT, i understand what 95% pressure means. you mistook my meaning, i was saying that if the machine can't keep up with the apneas and adjust quickly...

Re: Back with more questions after months of cpap frustration

I went back and looked at the data from this summer and fall with the nasal mask, and DID see flat spots in the flow chart that were not flagged by the machine. No idea why this would be, but will go look at some more to see how prevalent it was. Does seem to make sense though that the reported AHI ...

Back with more questions after months of cpap frustration

Hello all - i was on here about this time last year ago asking questions, and now could use some more help. Quick history: Diagnosed with sleep apnea 3 years ago and since then have been trying cpap, mouth piece and anything i can to feel better. 10 months ago i got serious about cpap again, posted ...

Re: Flow limitation: when are they considered significant?

*flex and epr are different, they both offer some relief of the pressure, but in different ways. I see on my machine there is "Aflex" and also something called "System One Resistance". If I am trying to optimize and address these FLs and get beyond this low AHI number, then should I be focusing on ...

Re: Flow limitation: when are they considered significant?

i am jumping in too with a similar question on this...i am not as familiar with all the machine specific jargon. i have low AHI <1.0 using CPAP mode, but crappy results (tired, foggy, etc.) but have recently been using it in APAP mode with the two pressures set equally at 9.5cm just so I can get a l...

Re: Advice please on therapy...anything else to change?

If you are not using nasal pillows, I suggest you go to a nasal Pillow mask (preferably P10). Nasal Pillows leak the least. I have tried the P10s but can't seem to get them to seal right. The right nostril always seems to leak for some reason. I have tried the Med and Small sizes. Its frustrating t...

Re: Advice please on therapy...anything else to change?

Sometimes it takes a while to feel the results. Why are you on manual instead of auto pressure? You might try setting the machine to APAP mode and see where it "wants" to set your pressure. If pressure changes bother you, you might want to start with something like 9.5 - 10.5 and then increase the ...

Re: Advice please on therapy...anything else to change?

I am up to ~7 hours now each night, its been about a week of that. The mask stays on the entire time and its doesn't bother me anymore. If I do wake up briefly to turn over then I wonder if the machine is even on. Regarding blood work, I had a bunch done by my primary care doc 2 years ago when all t...

Re: Advice please on therapy...anything else to change?

I am a fit, active, otherwise healthy 44 year old guy. Eat well, don't get sick very often, lots of exercise, etc. I am just tired all the time and have this spaced out, jet-lagged feeling. Like you just got back from a 5 day work trip to Asia where you left on Monday, flew 15 hours, saw 9 customers ...

Re: Resmed Airfit P10 - 10 day review

I have tried the P10s and really like the low profile of course, but just can;t get them to fit into my nostrils properly. I spend 5 minutes playing with it, then just usually give up and go back to my wisp. I have practiced in the middle of the day doing it, but getting into bed it just turns into ...

Advice please on therapy...anything else to change?

Hi All - I have been making progress but am still not getting the results I want. Have been through pressure settings (straight and APAP), a few masks, looking at the data, sleep hygiene, etc. Have settled in on a Wisp mask and a straight pressure, small piece of tape and some ear plugs. Have worked...

Re: i love my P10 but......

i was having some irritation with my ffm and was using a lanolin based ointment to calm it down. my doctor said that water-based creams were better b/c there was no risk of "fat induced pneumonia". apparently the fat or wax based ointments can be aspirated and hurt your lungs.... anyone heard this? ...

Re: Need Help Optimizing Therapy

OK thanks. I do all the sleep hygiene stuff you listed....except caffeine. I drink coffee in the morning and then nothing after 11am, but maybe I need to let that go. Again I have no issue falling asleep, I am tired by 1030 or so and am out within minutes of getting into bed. Also the events I have ...

Re: Need Help Optimizing Therapy

Straight CPAP pressure of 9. Did a week of P10 but had trouble getting it to seal, so just finished a week of Wisp mask. I think both can work, but the Wisp seems to be easier for me right now. I also use a small...maybe 1" piece of athletic tape horizontally across my mouth and that seems to keep t...
