Re: Backpacking, Hiking and Camping - the PowerAdd Pilot Pro

Please keep me posted on what works with the solar panels.

I can see them coming in handy for multiple day camping.

Re: Backpacking, Hiking and Camping - the PowerAdd Pilot Pro

Excellent!

Went backpacking last weekend. Used it for two nights. The PowerAdd was at 24% after the two nights.

Really glad to have found a CPAP solution that works for hiking and camping!!!

Re: Backpacking, Hiking and Camping - the PowerAdd Pilot Pro

It should.

The only thing that is unknown is if the PowerAdd has a connection that will fit the IntelliPAP.

If it doesn't have a connection that will fit, you can make your own using the Devilbiss 12v adaptor.

Let us know how it works out for you, by posting an update.

Re: Backpacking, Hiking and Camping - the PowerAdd Pilot Pro

At 6.1 lbs for the battery alone, this would be the heaviest item in my backpack. Heavier than my 4 person tent, my complete cookset, sleeping bag, etc. The 4.7 lbs for the entire CPAP setup (Poweradd + ResMed) is not exactly practical, but it's the best solution I've found for multiple nights of ba...

Re: Backpacking, Hiking and Camping - the PowerAdd Pilot Pro

Yep - take advantage of Amazon liberal return policies and swap it for a different one...

For me, it was worth the hassle to swap until I got one that worked.

Re: Backpacking, Hiking and Camping - the PowerAdd Pilot Pro

The PowerAdd's AC recharger outputs 20v DC at 2000mA.

The input is Ac 100-240V/50-60Hz 1A.

Sounds like it might need an inverter?

They aren't too expensive - this one is $27. I assume it would work.

Re: Backpacking, Hiking and Camping - the PowerAdd Pilot Pro

Excellent news, Jagzoo!!! OkyDoky - you *could* use an inverter to recharge the PowerAdd. Plugs into the cigarette lighter of a car and has 110v AC current. Inverters are highly inefficient, but they do work. I just got back from an excellent overnight backpacking trip. PowerAdd worked great. Used t...

Re: Backpacking, Hiking and Camping - the PowerAdd Pilot Pro

I would suggest setting the ramp to the lowest level.
Set the ramp escalation to the shortest time.
Either put the mask under a pillow or wear it before turning it on, and let it escalate to the desired pressure.

Just a thought.

Re: Backpacking, Hiking and Camping - the PowerAdd Pilot Pro

That is the exact same results that I was getting at the higher pressures.

If you're bored, try setting the pressure at the lowest pressure you can, putting the mask under a pillow or on your face (to prevent freeflow) and see if it still shuts off...

Re: Backpacking, Hiking and Camping - the PowerAdd Pilot Pro

Hey Jagzoo -

It seems to me that if you let it freeflow, it uses up the battery a lot quicker than if you put it under a pillow.

Not sure if this true, but that's how it appeared to me.

- and the pillow will help keep the noise down.

Excellent idea!!!

I started the ramp at 8.0 and it is now humming away on 19!!!

Roger - can you verify?

Re: Backpacking, Hiking and Camping - the PowerAdd Pilot Pro

12.5 - that's your magic number.

On my PR System One REMstar 60 Series Plus, the PowerAdd shuts down immediately for any pressure greater than 12.5.

On 12.5 it seems to be working just fine.

I hope you can sleep with it on 12.5.

If not, it sounds like this was a failed experiment.

Re: Backpacking, Hiking and Camping - the PowerAdd Pilot Pro

I was hoping this would work but I have to say I'm not that surprised.
Except it's working just fine for myself, sleepingsue and adant33...

The nice thing about Amazon is they have a great return policy.

If you can't get it to work, I'd try to get a replacement from them first.

Re: Backpacking, Hiking and Camping - the PowerAdd Pilot Pro

Hey Roger -

Do you have another USB device you can hook to the Poweradd battery?

If so, I'd hook it up and see if the battery drains evenly.

Something that is high drain would be best.
