Re: Klonopin withdrawl

I agree in general that you should work with your doc(s) on a safe Klonopin withdrawal. However, not all docs (even some psych docs) understand how slowly some people need to taper to avoid very unpleasant side effects. One of the best sources of information on tapering from benzos is benzobuddies.o...

Recommendations for sleep centers/docs in the Boston area?

Could I get some recommendations from folks who have had good experiences with a particular sleep doctor or sleep center in the Boston area? I'm willing to travel further than that to find someone who can diagnose central sleep apnea (which I believe I have), but for now I'd like to limit things clo...

Re: Neck position during sleep

Getting back on topic... This thread is timely as I think I just figured out part of my SDB problem. I have mild-ish OSA (AHI 15) which seems to be well-controlled with APAP (AHI typically < 2). Yet I still have multiple awakenings during the night sometimes accompanied by a bit of anxiety. Recently...

Re: Sleep disorders NOT apnea

I'm sure there are unscrupulous medical practitioners out there. In the case of the first LLMD I saw, I trust him. He wasn't going to make that much money on me since we was only going to see me every couple of months if necessary. The lab work and prescriptions were covered by my insurance. With th...

Re: Sleep disorders NOT apnea

And even then the tests are not very accurate. I live in a Lyme "hot zone." I've been dealing with some chronic (and so far unexplained) illnesses for about 2 years now. My GP ran a Lyme panel a while back which came back negative. Yet my symptoms seemed consistent with what I've read about Lyme. So...

Re: My fight with aerophagia (air swallowing).

This thread is slightly old, but hopefully not so old that I'll get yelled at for posting... Just wanted to add some information for anyone else searching for information/advice regarding aerophagia. I've been suffering with this lately as well. A few points: I'm also having some reflux problems. Th...

Re: Kaviance for sleep?

Note that Kavinace is a combination of taurine (a GABA precursor) and phenibut. Like many of these products, it doesn't state how much of each ingredient is contained in a given dose. I suspect though that most most of it is taurine. Again, you're doing your research and you don't intend to take thi...

Re: Kaviance for sleep?

Using it occasionally is probably ok. But I'd recommend Googling one of the active ingredients which is called phenibut. Phenibut is similar to benzodiazepines and is almost as addictive for some people.

Re: Sleep Apnea and Low T for Men

The other thing to note is that the numbers you're posting are total T levels. A better indicator is "free T" levels. Sometimes the report will include a "calculated free T" level, but an actual measured free T level is better. Some guys have total T levels that are OK, but low free T levels. The ot...

Re: Sleep disorders NOT apnea

Did you need Provigil after being treated for Lyme? Was your Lyme treatment considered successful? Lyme is certainly one possibility that could explain symptoms of severe fatigue, but there are many others.

Re: Sleep disorders NOT apnea

Could you describe your symptoms? For example, do you feel sleepy during the day or are you very fatigued? Those are two entirely different things and could have many different causes aside from sleep apnea. Do you feel depressed and/or anxious a lot? Are you having cognitive difficulties? As someon...

Re: Congestion & Dryness

I would definitely recommend experimenting with the humidity set to 0. I have a deviated septum and a generally snuffy nose. I was also having problems with congestion when I had the humidity set to 2. So I figured I needed more humidity because that's good for your sinuses right? Well, upping the h...
