Re: Cold Verses Warm and Humid

I am so thrilled I stumbled upon this site! I am new to my cpap and after reading some post. I was able to eliminate one issue i am having getting used to my CPAP. [b ]I cannot stand to breath warm humid air. It has been a major issue in getting used to wearing a CPAP for me. Once I read that I can...

Re: At A Loss

Have a comprehensive blood draw done and study the results for which categories are in-range and which ones are out-of-range and that may give you (and your doctor) some clues.

Re: Excess Carbon dioxide in the mask?

My most recent physical, my CO2 is elevated in my blood! This is the first time my carbon dioxide has been elevated and the first time I am using a CPAP machine: sleepMapper, Phillips Respironixs, system one. I will point out the company did not permit you to look or try sample masks, nor did the h...

Re: Heated hose temp on a warm night?

and, this is precisely why each individual user NEEDS to take charge of THEIR OWN therapy and find out what works best for them. It's fine to find out what others do but when all is said and done, it's YOU who is in charge of YOUR therapy.

Re: Heated hose temp on a warm night?

Why would anybody even THINK about using a heated hose in the warmer months?
I've never even used heated humidity in the winter months......let alone a heated hose anytime.

Re: Excess Carbon dioxide in the mask?

G'day again, Just want to say thanks to everyone who has been giving me advice and helping me become a compliant CPAP user. I know that I can be neurotic but I am doing my best to make CPAP work. I have no doctor to help answer my questions - the overbooked sleep clinic that prescribed my CPAP mach...

Re: Waxy buildup that keeps coming back

This makes absolutely NO sense whatsoever.

You need to figure out what is in the air that is being sucked into your machine while you're sleeping.
Use distilled water and clean/replace your filters. What you described is just NUTS!......nonsense.

Re: In Memoriam

When my grandmother was alive, she would cut all the lilac blooms in her garden, and put them in Mason jars full of water. After leaving a fragrant armload on the dining table, she would have one of my brothers drive her around to leave a few on various family graves throughout the region. The fart...

Re: MacGyver-ing Busted Equipment

I learned early on to keep a supply of Krazy Glue and rolls of black plastic electrical tape handy. Also the proper size TORX and phillips head screwdrivers. When I needed factory replacement parts, I contacted https:// acbio.com and got them. Oh, and, have numerous backups of everything you use. De...

Re: Anything ever updated?

With all of my "Legacy" generation Respironics machines (straight CPAP and Autos), the very first firmware level in 2005 was the best.....2.5.......and I have machines with all the levels from 2.5 to 2.8.

Be careful what you wish for.

Re: Anyone Sleep Through Power Outage

Hi Guys: You long timers must have dealt with power outages in the past. How long does it normally take to wake you up? This morning I just noticed my clocks were blinking meaning we lost power. After looking at Oscar I saw it was a tiny 1 minute and 20 second outage. I never woke up, like it did n...

Re: Do People Turn off the Humidifier in the Summer?

I tried heated humidification for maybe one or two nights when I started therapy......and then turned it off and made sure I couldn't accidentally turn it on. I live in a dry mountainous area so the air passing over the water picks up enough humidity for my needs/comfort and keeps my nasal passages ...

Having been on this forum for 17 years, I have come to the conclusion that there are a number o people who can perform enough "mental gymnastics" to be able to blame this therapy for ANY perceived problems they may THINK they have.

Re: Definitely OT: Medicare and a Chair

I need help from folks I trust. I have had three back surgeries since December.... and I see more in the future. It is difficult to get out of my recliner at home and the doctor wrote a prescription for a motor-powered recliner. Medicare will only pay for the motor part of the recliner, but not the...
