Re: New model - ResMed AirStart 10 CPAP has compliance data only
I'm stumped as to why manufacturers make these bricks! Once they have an autoset programmed and debugged and through QA and tested, it's just a matter of churning out copies and slapping the software in them. But in order to add a new (brain dead) machine, they have to write a bunch of new software,...

Is anyone else worried that this guy might be having a bad reaction to the meds he's taking now on top of the insomnia? This might be a lot more serious than just obnoxiousness...

PR makes an "In-line Outlet Bacteria Filter for CPAP/BiPAP" https://www.cpap.com/productpage/respironics-in-line-outlet-filter-bacteria-cpap-bipap-1-pack.html According to our host's catalog, it works in most brands of machines. For $6 it might be worth it to order one and see if it does what you ne...

Re: Side sleepers and mouth breathers. What mask works for you?
Another amara view fan here. I use a regular pillow, but I smash in the end of it so it's more squared off rather than tapered. Also, I used to use a king-sized pillow and find that a standard sized pillow works better. I need to sort of hang over the edge, and when I would roll over I'd have to mak...

Re: Amara View sizing question
The sizing guide for the Amara View only measures how far your nose sticks out from your face. I've lost track of who, but a really helpful user here uses a L while his wife uses a M, and he measured the two cushions and they are exactly the same height and width, and only the depth is different. Al...

Re: Trouble with leaks with full face mask when sleeping on side
I'm a confirmed mouth breather. It's some weird thing I have where as soon as I get sleepy my nose closes up and I have to breathe through my mouth. I used an F10 for 18 months, and am just finishing up my first full month with an amara view. My experience is that the design is much better for getti...

Re: Swallowing air creating problems
Ok, I'm confused... Isn't the air getting forced down your esophagus and into your stomach happening during the inhale? Because then lowering the pressure on exhale isn't going to help... Or is it that air is going around the corner and back down the esophagus during the exhale phase, because the pr...

Re: Large Leaks
Actually, are you sure you aren't having the leaks while awake? I notice that the amara has 3 distinct states. There's really loud leaks -- the trombone noise -- where you can feel a buzzing spot around the mask perimeter. Then there is this not loud at all diffuse hiss around the mask, which doesn'...

Re: Large Leaks
Sure hope someone can explain the huge discrepancy in the AHI numbers between DreamStation and Sleepyhead. This is ONLY a guess, but perhaps the machine records hypopneas differently in the data files when there is large leak going on? sleepyhead doesn't interpret the flow and assign its own flags,...

Hey, Gryphon, I'm glad to know that you and your wife had exactly the same reaction as me! Just to add to the amusement... When MyAir first came out it was broken. You know how you can use the arrows to go backwards and forwards through time? Well apparently no one actually tested that before they f...

I don't actually read from the card at all, because my inner computer geek couldn't survive without a backup of the card itself, not just the data. What I did early on in the process was to use DiskUtility to create a .dmg disk image of the SD card. I used MS-FAT32 because my version of the mac os d...

I know this thread will warm Pugsy's heart, if she ever sees it. I hope that she does so she knows how much she has done here and how much she is missed. I was told my post was e-mailed to her. So she should at least know of the thread's existence. I think she knows she is missed. And I honestly ha...
