QuestionRE: AHI and Tonsils

Hi All, I just had a thought here, as a kid I was always borderline with getting my tonsils and adenoids removed, but I was a part of hte generation where doctors would only go for a tonsilidectomy(?) if there really was little other choice. I am wondering, would getting tonsils removed as an adult ...

Re: Sleep Apnea and root cause...

I have a very strong suspicion that my sleep Apnea was caused by a combination of the following factors: 1) Decades of jaw problems - lockjaw and general TMJ issues since being a teenager 2) Stress - exacerbated the lockjaw as I was apparently grinding my teeth at night 3) Weight - yes, I need to lo...

Re: Sleep Apnea & Mental Health

Rabbit54, Welcome to the forum. Your line of thinking is very similar to my own. As a child I had severe allergies (always the snotty kid). As a teenager I had massive TMJ issues (read opening jaw resulting in sounds like a shotgun). Massive snorer the whole way through. In my late 20s the TMJ came ...

Re: AHi under control chest pains now

Hi Julie, Sorry to give you a scare. I have just taken the screenshots from Sleepyhead and I am really interested in what you can determine from it. Likewise, being an engineer, if you have any references to how to interpret this stuff, then please point me in the right direction http://i.imgur.com/...

Re: AHi under control chest pains now

Hi Julie, Thanks for your response and advice and concern. I had my first appointment with my cardiologist last Wednesday. He did a quick ECG (No obvious signs of a heart attack) and booked me in for a cardiac CT scan and an Echo Cardio Graph/Ultrasound and some bloods taken. I got the ultrasound do...

AHi under control chest pains now

Hi All, My AHI is well under control - sometimes down to 0.0 (Much better than 76), now I am waking up with a tight chest with chest pains throughout the day and a few other concerning symptoms. I am getting my heart checked and working through things, however, I was wondering the following: 1) Does...

Re: CPAP Travel to India - Water?

Thanks everyone. It looks like bottled water will be the go. I have bought the side attach, went for the airiness so it can run without the humidification tank, so i should be all set to go.

Re: Australian cpap prices

Greendirt, Your experience is consistent with the graft and rorting tactics myself and others have been experiencing. One of the arguments I got was that the US version of the CPAP machine would not work on the australian cellular network. Fair enough I thought - until I found out that the Australia...

Re: Australian cpap prices

I Didn't have the heart to tell him that I bought a brand new AirSense 10 for less than $1,000 shipped here from the US as opposed to the $2,400 they want for them here. I just laid out AUD$1299 for a brand new AIrsense 10 here in Sydney, with extended warranty and no shipping risks! It took me abo...

CPAP Travel to India - Water?

Hi All, I really prefer to use Distilled water in my humidification chamber - I find that even boiled or filtered water tends to leave more of a residue in the chamber where I live. I am about to travel to india for a couple of weeks for work. I have heard some real nightmare stories about tap and e...

Re: Australian cpap prices

With the price difference, I would suggest it's cheaper to fly to the US, pick up a machine and fly back with it than pay the australian prices. The problem is not the regulator - it's good old fashioned selfish greed. I was horrified to find that my health insurer tried to refuse to pay their part ...

Re: Sex and cpap

Just a thought, You could try trivialising it if you're uneasy about getting all serious about it up front. If your significant other is geek, you could do a comic con party theme or something and come dressed as Darth Vader or Boba Fett or something. After getting frisky just put the mask on and ex...

Hey it was worth a shot right?

Wishful thinking I guess...
