Re: Apria Healthcare / Philips Respironics recent recall notice discussion thread
Thanks for your very knowledgeable reply. Thanks especially for all the information included in your "Signature"! My particular problem with the current recall situation is that for my BiPAP ASV experience to work for me I need to use the humidifier (has to do with my nasal passages). 1) In your sig...

Philips Respironics and ResMed: 5-year unit replacement
In a normal world, not one in which there’s a reasonable probability that use of a recalled product will cause serious adverse health consequences or death, the two main PAP machine producers, Philips Respironics and ResMed each recommend their unit be replaced after 5 years of use. If they could be...

Re: Apria Healthcare / Philips Respironics recent recall notice discussion thread
I didn’t know I’d stir up a hornet’s nest. I could tell, from perusing “Philips/Philips Respironics recent recall…” there were a few out there, (and, yes, I did notice “cr”apria) but I didn’t know the nest was so alive and kicking. A fellow Vespidae p.s. Jimbud, thanks for the Clinician manual links...

Re: Apria Healthcare / Philips Respironics recent recall notice discussion thread
The current recall is one thing: "The FDA gave the recall a Class I designation, the most serious type. The classification means there’s a reasonable probability that use of a recalled product “will cause serious adverse health consequences or death.” https://www.theverge.com/2021/8/5/22609651/phili...

Apria Healthcare / Philips Respironics recent recall notice discussion thread
I’m hoping this can be as robust a discussion thread as the "Philips/Philips Respironics recent recall notice discussion thread". It's unfortunate that the Philips recall has to have happened. However, Apria Healthcare, medical equipment distributor to a number of major hospitals and HMOs deserves s...

Re: A serious question about a CPAP related matter.
Sorry for apparently taking so long to get back to y'all. I agree that the layout is not the best. Just hate that "popular" button and what is with the tags? I had some odd tags appended to my posts and had to remove them Arlene1963 Per your suggestion I try the forum, I have been on the healthunloc...

Re: A serious question about a CPAP related matter.
Thanks for your replies. I'm not sure that a-fib itself is something to build an ongoing forum around Afib is as much a forum worthy matter as sleep apnea, maybe more so. Besides the fact sleep apnea and afib are often coincidental, topics relating to Afib worth gnashing one’s teeth over or just hav...

A serious question about a CPAP related matter.
Sleep apnea is often associated with atrial fibrillation. This means that it’s highly likely that some to many of you, like I, are also dealing with atrial fibrillation issues. This is one of the most well spoken, well attended, and very (if I may use the term) professional forums I’ve attended. You...

Another DreamWear question
Recently I tried the DreamWear. For me (a pillow, and nasal mask user), this mask is the best I've tried. I just have one simple question about it. It seems to have two vents: one on the top of the head and another one from the (S, M, or L) nose part. I don't recall other masks I've tried having dua...

Re: Nasal PillowTalk (Philips Nuance)
The reason I questioned/abandoned my P10 was because the shape of their nasal holes is rounder and seems to stretch at my nose.
The holes in Nuance are better, but the airflow of the current alternative is too much...
So, back to the P10 for now.

Titration control questions
I know basically how BiPap ASV machines work, and I have some fairly rudimentary ideas how one might implement such an algorithm (set of rules the software follows). It is my understanding that the approach (algorithm) RedMed and Philips take is a bit different. How does a BiPap machine work from th...

Nasal PillowTalk (Philips Nuance)
I was using the ResMed AirFit P10 but felt that the pillows tended to (feel like they were) stretch my nose opening. I'm now trying the Philips Nuance with my BiPapASV. The pillows don't feel bad at all. However the air flow generated in front of the nose is extremely annoying. If I don't wear long ...

Re: BiPap Machines
The reason I’ve joined this thread was because I searched “SERVE-HF” and this was the only hit. I’ve just found out about the SERVE-HF study (from my sleep doctor). He told me that after the study released its findings all ASV patient records were scanned and those to whom the “specific” characteris...

Re: Proper way to backup and reuse data
The wireless technology is incredible!! (albeit a bit anal)
Any chance the technology can be adapted to my Pacemaker? Right now I'm limited to an occasional 15+ minute: a) puck pickup; old (landline) telephone dialup modem transmission to get my information to the hospital.

Re: Proper way to backup and reuse data
WOW, talk about... (I can't think of the right word!)
Fascinating. How does wireless even enter into this discussion of a pump and its card?I think if I could figure out the wireless card then I could do this without taking the card out of the machine
