Puffy and scratchy eyes lasting all day

Does anyone else wake up with puffy, hard to open, and scratchy eyes? This is coupled with what feels like inflammed sinuses, but I'm not stuffed up. Sometimes it seems the cpap makes it worse, despite using a humidifier and fairly stable humidity and temperature levels. I've tried antihistamines an...

Re: ASV for UARS Help with Settings Question

I dont recommend others with uars to see krakow. His guidance was very inneffective for me. Same story here. I am on ASV for UARS and keep waking up in REM. I think the machine fluctuates too much for me. I was on FFM, but now trying nasal again. Nothing I try works. Are you finding straight cpap a...

Re: Do I even have UARS?

I've had MMA + turbinates done. Nasal congestion is zero. Those were untreated #s. I've also never had centrals on other studies, but they only showed up when I flew from Montreal to New Mexico at a much higher elevation. I've check sleepyhead and my #s look good, when I can keep the mask on. Never ...

Do I even have UARS?

I've tried everything. Still incredibly fatigued all day. The ASV keeps waking me up whenever I use it. Sometimes I keep it on / asleep for 6-7 hours and I'm still fatigued and wiped. When I don't use it, I feel just as tired. I'm wondering if I even have UARS. The testing lap I flew to was at a muc...

Re: ASV patient with question for Sludge or anyone who can help

Everything seems perfect with a 00 AHI, but it isn't. I am exhausted when I wake up. I would love to hear from Sludge on this to see if he can tell me what is going on? Somehow airway does not open enough, but pressure does not not kick in to open it. This pattern repeats itself all night long. Def...

Re: Can ASV cause fatigue? Need BiPAP instead?

I have a very limited experience (one week only and I had no software to monitor pressure waveforms) with Respironics ASV (now it is my back up machine). The latest test version of sleepyhead will display the pressure waveform. Thank you cnaumann! Now I see that the latest version of Encore Basic a...

Right, yes. I rarely have centrals on CPAP/APAP/ASV. I'm focusing on Patient Triggered Breaths.

Perhaps a BiPAP is the way to go after all...

Re: Could this be UARS?

Good point, 49er. My dr refused to write me a prescription but said I could buy direct secondhand from someone else if I really wanted to. I am considering it; I just don't know how likely I will be to find the exact machine I want used. I have a Resmed S9 APAP/CPAP I could sell you for cheap? Also...

Re: Can ASV cause fatigue? Need BiPAP instead?

A BiPAP machine with a back up rate is a machine that can initiate a breath for you if it detects that you are not breathing on your own. There are two modes for this, ASV (Auto Servo Ventilation if you are PR, Adaptive Servo Ventilation if you are ResMed) and S/T (Spontanious / Timed). The ASV mma...

Re: Can ASV cause fatigue? Need BiPAP instead?

But I have a question: Does Respironics BiPAP autoSV allow you to set PSmin and PSmax to the same value? That would create a BiPAP-like setting. I guess what you want is "BiPAP S/T" mode in Respironics ASV. I have a very limited experience (one week only and I had no software to monitor pressure wa...

Does it work Buran?

Where does the hose to the CPAP go, attaching to the bottle?

Re: still wake up during the night

I have been on Cpap since the end of July. I fall asleep quickly while on it, something that I did not do before Cpap. However, I still wake up a few times during the night. I do fall back to sleep, but I am wondering why I cannot sleep through the night. My machine adjusts from 5 - 12 in pressure....

Re: Can ASV cause fatigue? Need BiPAP instead?

A secondhand BiPAP will set you back a lot less than a DS960 unless your insurance is footing the whole bill. I have no insurance, but I could try secondhand BiPAP. So it's common that even with BiPAP, the flow curve gets all ratty? If you see my earlier examples, the only time my curves are consis...

Re: Can ASV cause fatigue? Need BiPAP instead?

But I have a question: Does Respironics BiPAP autoSV allow you to set PSmin and PSmax to the same value? That would create a BiPAP-like setting. Yes. It is possible to emulate a BiPAP with the DS960. To do so, you also have to set the EPAPmin and EPAPmax to the same value. You cannot really emulate...
