Re: Flow Limitation and UARS?

Yes, I use the function on my machine that is comparable to EPR on yours. I have it set at the max values. To give you an idea of my heart rate, my resting rate while awake is 45 and my blood pressure is on the low side. I had to warn the techs about this when I had my sleep test because I didn't wa...

Re: Could this be UARS?

Your symptoms and results are certainly consistent with UARS. An actual diagnosis requires a bit more information than you were provided. The standard report is intended for sleep apnea, not UARS. One other question that you should consider is whether you had any PLMs. RLS and PLMS can also cause th...

Re: Flow Limitation and UARS?

Yes, I have a humidifier. I also have a large humidifier in the room (got it at a chain drugstore). As for running at the higher pressure, I tried backing off from my prescribed level of 9 to 8 when I was having aerophagia problems early on. It helped the gas problem, but I was starting to get highe...

Re: Flow Limitation and UARS?

Sorry I am a day or too late joining this discussion. Like musculus, I too have UARS and agree with all of the suggestions made so far. jwuzy wrote: Do we know if UARS is dangerous to your health like sleep apnea is advertised as? Re: Meaning of DeVilbiss AHI Report Definition

The manual is not very clear on this, but the events that Devibiss includes in the NRI number are events that do not fit its definition of an apnea or a hypopnea. These events might be scored by other machines as events such as snores or central apneas. The NRI are events are simply those that the m...

Re: How Slow of Pulse is Too Slow?

Last year my GP freaked out when he saw the resting heart rate from my EKG during my annual physical (45). I told him this wasn't an issue because I am a trained endurance runner and this had been a typical value for several years, but he insisted that I see a cardiologist ASAP. The cardiologist sai...

Re: will my laptop battery mess up Intellipap electronics?

If the problem that you had was due to your lapatop wrote on your SD card, then this will not be a problem with your Intellipap as it does not care what else is on the card as long as it can find its own files. The only SD sensitivity that I have encountered with my Devilbiss machine is that it did ...

Re: New UARS patient? Standard Sleep Study NORMAL.

Another question: If an esophageal probe is required for this diagnosis, then why didn't her sleep study and all sleep studies include this probe? It's highly unlikely that insurance will allow a repeat sleep study just to look for this condition. Many sleep labs are not trained in the use of an th...

Re: Frustrated with Insomnia

Your paradoxical reaction to the benadryl may be a clue. For many people benadryl will have a sedative effect. For some it has no effect. However, for those who have RLS (Restless Leg Syndrome) and possibly those who have PLMS (Periodic Leg Movements during Sleep), the first generation antihistamine...

Re: Air blowing on wife at night

ChicagoGranny, her machine in those days did not have or even offer a heated hose option. As for the humidifier, she refuses to turn on the heat to the one she currently has (but she does keep it filled with water). I don't understand it, but I am definitely not going to question her choice, especia...

Re: Air blowing on wife at night

One mast that the others have not mentioned, probably because so many have issues with getting a good fit, is the Sleepweaver Anew cloth mask. People either love it and will not go back to a hard mask or they have leakage/fit issues and hate it. I am one of the former. The vent holes on the Anew are...

From Clinical Management of Restless Leg Syndrome (2nd Ed.)by Lee, Buchfuhrer, Allen and Hening published 2013 Other Pharmacologic Options These other drugs do not fit into the four major categories of drugs that are commonly used to treat RLS. At present, there is little empirical evidence or exper...

Re: Medication for Restless Legs Syndrome

Clonidine is not one of the drugs that is commonly used to treat RLS, but is occasionally used when some of the more common classes of meds have been found to not be effective. Usually the first class of meds used to treat RLS are the dopamine agonists which include pramipexole (Mirapex), ropinirole...

Re: Ant Intellipap users out there?

I also experienced this with my Intellipap AutoAdjust. I don't know if the same fix will work with your AutoBiLevel, but what I did increase the IRnd and ERnd values in the SmartFlex menu to 3. This seems to reduce the surge of pressure the machine sends when you start to inhale. Hope this works for...
