Yup try turning down the humidity if you can, but if mine starts to hiss or squeak, I wipe it off with either the pillow case or sheet from the outside. I try to clean half the vent holes at a time so the little extra pressure helps blow out the condensation.

You don't have to notify the airline. Make sure you bring it as a carry on; you wouldn't want it to get lost in checked baggage. They can't "count it" as a carry on bag because it's a medical device. ResMed masks don't fit the bridge of my nose well, but the Simplus works great for me.

Just to clear things up a little; I think the tonsil removal (part of the surgery) and recovery caused the most pain. Imagine gargling burning charcoal and recovering from that... (My tonsils were huge too.)
