Re: Best face mask for stomach and side sleeping ?

I like the F&P Simplus because it has the ball joint swivel for the connection and seems to give me more options for sleeping positions.

Re: New Simplus mask is loud.

Possible you got a bad one. I've been using the simplus since it came out. I purchased a second mask about 6 months after the first. Both are about the same; pretty quiet. The Resmed Airfit F10 was substantially louder at the vent. Make sure the gray hose to mask adapter is fully seated in the hose ...

Re: Tonsils

I had mine out in May of 2014 at 40yo. Removing them did give me some more airway room. It dropped my average high pressure by about 2cm/h2o. I wasn't expecting it to rid me of xPAP; and it didn't. They were pretty far gone and after my surgeon said he wished he'd taken them out a couple years befor...

Re: Should I have surgery?

I had a similar surgery. It slightly reduced my average highs; ; 2cm/h2o lower now. I think the biggest improvement was getting the chronically infected/inflamed tonsils out to help reduce swelling/full feeling in my throat. It opened my airway some too. Removed my elongated uvula and that helped re...

I'd bring a small bottle of your "medicinal liquid" with you just in case.

Re: The risk of dying from sleep apnea

I think of it like this; If your life is 100 miles, the things we do increase or decrease our speed towards that 100 mile mark. Untreated sleep apnea increases our speed; severe OSA faster than mild OSA, excessive drinking increases your speed, diabetes, untreated medical problems..... All increase ...

Re: F&P Simplus - squeaky condensation noise

Yup try turning down the humidity if you can, but if mine starts to hiss or squeak, I wipe it off with either the pillow case or sheet from the outside. I try to clean half the vent holes at a time so the little extra pressure helps blow out the condensation.

Re: Travel Question

You don't have to notify the airline. Make sure you bring it as a carry on; you wouldn't want it to get lost in checked baggage. They can't "count it" as a carry on bag because it's a medical device. There are some printable tags floating around for medical devices if you'd like to tag it as such. T...

Re: Why do you need a tritation study if you get an auto?

I had such a bad time with the first sleep study I asked if I could nix the titration study. Thankfully the Dr agreed and I didn't have the titration study and we got the pressure dialed in at my 30 day compliance check up.

Re: Is it still possible to have a mask molded to fit your face?

Have you tried an F&P Simplus yet?

ResMed masks don't fit the bridge of my nose well, but the Simplus works great for me.

Re: About to go for Sleep Apnea Surgery

Just to clear things up a little; I think the tonsil removal (part of the surgery) and recovery caused the most pain. Imagine gargling burning charcoal and recovering from that... (My tonsils were huge too.)

Re: About to go for Sleep Apnea Surgery

I had a modified UPPP back in May. Tonsils removed, uvula removed, and trimmed up the soft palate. This was to remove the chronically infected tonsils. My uvula was touching my tongue and the tissues were stretched out from being inflamed and swollen for years. Pain was a 9/10 in the recovery room. ...

Re: Gums Showing

Typically called a gummy smile. Can be fixed with orthognathic surgery. May be part of a bad bite and other orthodontic problems. When the jaws are misaligned it can impact the airway; influencing OSA. ETA Just from the pic it looks like she has a bit of a deep bite and over jet(over bite), slightly...
