Re: Grinding Teeth More now
That's what happened to me, I was clenching so much it woke me up early in my treatment. I got one of the cheap mouthguards, and it worked well for the first month or two, and then I stopped using it and haven't noticed it as badly now, though, I can tell one of my teeth did shift a bit.

massive appetite by the end of the day, as well? Sounds almost exactly like my symptoms. Read up on atypical depression, you might find some answers. As far as treatment, check up on the tryptophan, seem like you might need both a stimulant and a sedative, if the sedative isn't enough to keep you u...

Re: Very low AHI but not good sleep
I'd say there's a good chance you're actually awake during those periods, which would explain why your AHI would be low. Are you taking any sedatives?

Re: Unanswered Questions
If bradc has taken prozac or any antidepressant recently, taking l-tryptophan or 5HtP is not a good idea because of the risk of serotonin syndrome. And if he hasn't, it is a good idea as with any supplement to start low and go very slowly with the dose. Many people find they have to take 1/2 the am...

Re: Unanswered Questions
The can't really check for gluten intolerance reliably, but you can check for a wheat allergy, or a blood test for celiac, but if your b12 isn't abnormally low, or you aren't getting stomach issues or running to the bathroom after having a few beers or a plate of pasta, it's probably fine. Low B12 c...

Re: Unanswered Questions
I am definitely not following some of those guidelines, namely watching TV and reading in bed. What about listening to music at low volume? I absolutely cannot sleep without something to keep my mind occupied. I tend to have trouble with anxiety and listening to the TV or music helps to ease my min...

Re: Unanswered Questions
Sounds like you're in exactly the same situation I'm in. Dealing with depression, boozing it up in the past, still not feeling rested in the morning despite CPAP functioning normally. Been doing the e-cig thing, it's helped my mood, and the stimulant effect has killed off my sleep attacks during the...

Re: CPAP causing daytime anxiety and depression?
Yup. As I've now been dreaming more, I've noticed a little more depression. The CPAP hasn't changed my energy levels, though. Take some l-tryptophan before bed, and in the morning, it'll give you a deeper sleep, and in the day it'll convert to serotonin to stabilize your mood.

Re: Failed with CPAP, trying Provent
CPAP hasn't done anything for me after 4-5 months now either. I didn't want to use it on the weekend, but found I couldn't fall asleep without it now. Still on the fence about discontinuing usage... Doctor said I should just to prevent the cadio risks. Keep trying the CPAP though, once you get used ...

Re: Sleep Study
Don't drink alcohol the day of the test. I was asked (if I'd had any alcohol) a hundred times. It started to aggravate me, and the sleep tech told me that I would be surprise how many people will report for a sleep study drunk. Drinking will give a false report out... Sheriff This 100 times. Alcoho...

Re: Home sleep study vs sleep lab
I think one advantage of the home sleep study is that you are measuring your sleep behavior in the environment where you actually sleep. Clearly there is some information collected during a lab sleep study, but for the great majority I don't think that data is that relevant in my opinion. I did rea...

Re: Home sleep study vs sleep lab
Interesting and true, but because I had RLS so bad per dr phone call, I just wonder how much is apnea and how much RLS interupting my sleep? How can I find out? The only solid way is to do a PSG using a PAP to keep the apnea under control, but a PSG done even without the PAP will still be able to s...

Re: Home sleep study vs sleep lab
Simple answer - It's not always apnea. While a home test is cheaper, it's cheaper for a reason. It doesn't do nearly as much to determine potential sleep issues, and as I'm sure other have pointed out, it won't help anyone determine things like RLS, snoring, and bunch of other issues. If you get a p...

Re: Use of vaporizing menthol in CPAP machine
I just don't use mine if i'm congested, don't really feel much different in the morning either way I wouldn't recommend adding salt to the humidifier, it'll crust up. wonder though, if anyone's made something to add on to the hose to do the same thing. Might be interesting to see, but it would likel...
