Re: Infections, Bacterias, Bugs that Haunt the CPAP hose
I do hang the hose in a bathroom... but the bathroom I hang it in is never used and its as "clean as a whistle". My wife sees to that. We have 3 bathrooms. The RT that delivered the equipment stated that I shouldn't hang it (after washing it) in direct sunlight but in a dark, dry place...so this was...

Infections, Bacterias, Bugs that Haunt the CPAP hose
No matter how long it takes to dry a CPAP hose (either by hanging it, waving in the air, or just blowing it out with a hair dryer or any other device to dry the damn thing) the micro water droplets in the interior hose after rinsing still stay in it... all day... in it's curled dark internal state.....

CPAP Equipment Cleaning Question
I developed acute bronchitis, sinusitis and pharyngitis over the weekend . I don't smoke nor does my wife. I do have spring allergies that could have contributed to it or could have picked it up at the grocery store touching the cart handle . I just don't know. I was told by my home equipment RT (up...

Humidity and Temp Settings for Spring and Summer
I'm new to CPAP and facing my first spring and summer. Depending where you live, spring and summer is just over the horizon. Thank God! It's been long overdue! What are the optimum temp and humidity settings for the warmer seasons? I'm between 3.0 to 3.5 on my ResMed humidifier during the late winte...

Re: benzodiazepines and O.S.A what you guys think
Thanks Papit!! I really believe that anyone that has been professionally diagnosed and treated for severe anxiety knows what a major adjustment can be like when adapting to CPAP therapy for the first time. Some folks can adjust very easily like a duck in water and some can't without the help of anti...

Re: benzodiazepines and O.S.A what you guys think
I've been taking Xanax (a benzo) for over 15 years as needed for my generalized anxiety disorder with great success. I also practice biofeedback, meditation and have had many CBT sessions with an excellent psychologist. I've been under my primary physician's oversight for that time while on this med...

Re: Very Bad Cold and CPAP Therapy
I have claustrophobia pretty bad and tried a full face mask at the hospital sleep study and it was pretty bad. The nasal mask wasn't as bad but still had those trapped and confined feelings. It's a phobia I know but can't help it. I felt like I was in a trapped in a dark room or something. Just can'...

Very Bad Cold and CPAP Therapy
I've now been on CPAP therapy for over a month and I am beginning to see slight progress and a light at the end of the tunnel. My daytime lethargy has diminished considerably and the stomach bloating that has been haunting me for this long month is slowly disappearing. I purchased a wedge pillow las...

Re: Gas and intestinal issues
I went to Bed Bath & Beyond yesterday and bought a foam wedge pillow. It seems to have helped with the stomach bloating having my head elevated a bit higher than the rest of my body. I slept 7.1 hours. I guess only time will tell. Anybody out there using them for stomach gas and bloating?

Re: Gas and intestinal issues
Gastrointestinal issues can also cause problems like gas and bloat. IBS for one. So introducing good bacteria to fight the bad is really a good idea. I took something like this a couple of years ago when I got bound up and it really helped.

Re: Gas and intestinal issues
GOD!! did I have this problem and still do . I've been on CPAP for a month now. Checked with my sleep center doc today and he prescribed a chin strap to wear in conjunction with my nasal pillows to keep my mouth shut . I must be swallowing air when sleeping . I don't know if it will really work but ...

Re: Now One month on CPAP and may give up.
I think you're right. Most DME's aren't really that connected. It's all black and white and nothing can be out of the norm. Thank God for forums like this one to vent. My daughter is a Pediatric NP and isn't too cognizant of sleep disorders in adults. She refers her kids to pulmonologists for any di...

Re: Now One month on CPAP and may give up.
I called the hospital sleep center doctor today but discovered that he won't be back in the center until Friday . I vented my frustrations about the stomach bloating to the RT tech. She said that this wasn't a normal complaint especially with an auto CPAP machine and with such low pressures that wer...

Re: Now One month on CPAP and may give up.
I went back to the nasal mask last night from the pillows and my AHI reading this morning was .03 but I am still gassy and bloaty. I also have been hit with seasonal allergies because I feel congested in the head. I'll call the sleep doctor today and get his opinion and I'll post back. Thanks again!
