Re: Sex & the CPAP

All true! I have been on the hose about 11 months now and have become a runner (never ran distance in my life). I was able to resume my exercise routine and I now weigh less than I did in college! I dare say I am in the best shape of my life - at age 43. And yes, my relationship with my wife, kids a...

HIYA!

Got a PM so I figured I'd just pop in and say hello to everyone. Sorry I've been a ghost ... work, life, and exercise have kept me very busy these past months. I'm healthier (and thinner) now than I can remember - I haven't been in the shape I'm in since early college years (before the boozing years...

Re: Gas in stomache

I get a touch of this occasionally - especially if I sleep an extended period on my side. One thing that helps me (but not my wife) is to bring my knees up to my chest, hold them there, and gently rock from side to side for 20-30 seconds. This gets the air moving through the intestines and well ... ...

Re: Help choosing the right mask

I went from ffm to swift fx nasal pillows ... love them.

My wife went from Opus, to Swift Fx pillows, to the Wisp ... loves the wisp.

Well ... as much as one can love wearing these to bed.

Re: S9 Autoset

I keep my s9 Autoset range at 10-11cm to avoid runaways. I spend most of my nights between 10-10.6 so I don't see the need to leave it any wider.

Re: Resmed supplies

At first, the hoses were very fragile; Re$Med responded to numerous complaints about flimsy, damage-prone hoses by changing the color slightly; and by making the hoses stiffer (we assume stronger) This could be what you are seeing. There may be a slight difference in the redesigned hose length, as ...

Re: Help for wifey

UPDATE: The DME swapped the Swift FX for the Wisp and my wife took to it like a duck to water ... no leaks, lots of zzz's, and no irritation. I think she has found her mask! Whew!

Now I can focus on why I'm waking 2-3 times a night lately.

Re: Resmed supplies

I purchased them on cpap.com and trust them, but the rep that responded to my inquiry has not answered me straight. She suggested laying it out in a sunny window for the afternoon. I gently reminded her that ResMed's official cleaning instructions tell us NOT to allow things to dry in direct sunligh...

Re: Resmed supplies

Yes they say Resmed, just the hose itself is slightly lighter in color. The short tube is about an inch shorter than my original. The long hose is hard to tel because of the damn bends. I've only had it about four weeks so here's hoping. It regularly slides off me in the middle of the night easily b...

Re: Help for wifey

What's wifey's humidity setting? She may need more humidity. If she's using a heated hose, she may need to control the heat and the humidity separately. She upped it to 3.5 four days ago (from 2.5). Does anyone know how to determine the proper pillow size other than just testing each size? Resmed s...

Hmmm. Can you summize: is it breathing or the proper levels of O2 that causes weight gain?

Help for wifey

So my wife has recently started CPAP. She's using the same machine and mask as me, but 7cm pressure with EPR 3. She has the Swift FX for her w/medium pillows. She switched to this due to nasal irritation from the Opus 360. Her nostrils are very sore just inside and Lansinoh oil is not helping. Does ...

Re: AHI worse after APAP changed to CPAP

You mentioned APAP caused centrals. Were these determined in an official lab setting or just at home with nothing but cpap machine data?

Most people feel suffocated by a pressure of 4. What pressure did they prescribe you?

Re: Respiratory Rate

Thanks all. I didn't think about vit D. I haven't been doing as much in the yard on weekends like I used to in the spring and summer. Also, when I do I am in pants and sweatshirt vs shorts and tee, so less skin area for absorption.

I know my cpap therapy is fine - it has to be something else.
