Re: Sticky: Phillips Respironics recent recall notice discussion thread

100s of FDA adverse event reports a day and they kept on merrily shipping the product. This is total baloney. There were only 8 reports in the first quarter of this year and 20 in last year that included CPAP in the report. Not a single one of these reports involved the current recall. All of them ...

Re: How to stop sleeping on back?

I was just reviewing the data from my polysomnography from 5 years ago. It shows periodic limb movements during N3 deep sleep stage only. Movements were present both with and without cpap. I suspect these movements have gotten worse. Whether it's deep sleep or rem stage it seems they are a problem ...

Re: What would you like to see in the next generation of CPAP devices?

Granny, you need to quit. They are only making it worse. I would call them Rube Goldbergs, but Rube's devices worked. At midnight local time (based on satellite or cell tower), an alarm should go off if the machine is powered off or if it is no but the mask is not attacked (which it already knows). ...

Re: Pathetic DR visit!!

I deliberately see a neurologist that is certified in sleep medicine. I prefer the same. Neurologists certified in sleep seem to have a better understanding of sleep apnea associated comorbidities. My biggest problem is RLS and PLMD - neurological related. The two neurologists I see started a weigh...

Re: UARS -- bedridden for 1.5 years, sick for 3.5

stay away from the ent's and further away from the neurologists. find one good board certified pulmonologist that specializes in sleep medicine. That's bulldonkers. My ENT did a wonderful thing for me - turbinate reduction and septum straightening. It was life changing. And my sleep doctor is board...

Re: Advice needed

In your current/previous newbie experience, Do you think that the following testing is sufficient? * 2 weeks on with Butacort using a predefined settings. Keep an eye of the flow limitation and awakening arousals. * 2 weeks off without Butacort using the identical settings with tuning (likely humid...

Re: Nasal Pillow CPAP & Dry Eye

I am wondering if part of my dry eye problem is related to the use of my cpap nasal pillow? I have vision that is blurry especially when I first wake up.later in the day with lots of drops my eyes become somewhat clearer. I am near 70 years old and am approaching the possibility of cataract replace...

Re: Sleep Apnea and Restless Legs

RLS is caused by something wacky with the nerves in the Legs. Sciatica is caused by irritation of the sciatic nerve (duh). That is an inaccurate description of the causes of RLS. RLS is caused by dysfunction in the central nervous system and/or dysfunction of neroutransmitters. It's not at all like...

Re: Heated hose recommendation

Houston, TX area. It is VERY hot and humid. So, I keep my AC down pretty low (I like it around 74 F but that is an ideal that I rarely get). Note that my AC unit(s) take a good portion of humidity out of the ambient air. I DETEST heat, especially in the summer. I prefer about 74 F ambient temperatu...

To Lucyhere: If you knew anything ever about what you post, you should know posting over and over in the same thread does NOT increase your thread count. Yes, it does. My last post was #1066. This will be #1067... in the same thread. . Lucy, If you are going to continue your silly trolling, you mig...

Breathing through the mouth is a big issue for anyone who does it - gum and dental disease.

Re: Nose clogs up when laying down, and other times too

I researched deviated septum on this forum and saw a number of people who said that the deviated septum surgery did not improve their PAP treatment. Aside from that, I don't want the surgery anyway because it sounds awful. Surgery to correct a deviated septum is very easy these days. You may have r...
