Re: Filters

Ha Ha. No, Altoona itself is somewhat of a railroad city ... but much less so than 50-100 years ago. And I live outside of town on the side of Brush Mountain. Active coal mines are quite a distance from us. DEAN

Re: Filters

Thanks so much for the recommendations. My filters have gotten pretty black, lately, in about 2 weeks. It used to be that I could go about a month or 6 weeks and it would get only light gray. Any idea why?? Thanks, DEAN

Re: Affected by cigarette smoke?..Proof enough for me!

After seeing what happened those two nights for me, I'd be inclined to try and stay away from the incense and smoke if you can for a couple of days and see what happens. I never thought it would cause such a change! Hmmmmm both are going to be a little difficult. I can stay away from the incense at...

Re: Using nasal dilator with PAP

I was thinking a couple of days ago how cool it would be to have a thin little medical device surgeons could insert up peoples noses, and inflate it like balloon, to gently stretch stuff, for people with nasal breathing problems due to small nasal tube bits (I really should learn the names of stuff...

Re: Frustrated after 5 years of use of CPAP

Have you replaced your mask periodically? You mentioned "leak problems". Leaks will pretty much nullify the effects of the cpap if they are bad or frequent enough. Have you meticulously stepped through the fitting/adjustment process for the mask? I also use the Mirage Quattro and have had great succ...

Re: can u have apnea while awake?

I noticed months before I was diagnosed that there were periods of time, when I was sitting and relaxed, that my breathing would "cycle down" and turn off for perhaps 10 to 15 seconds ... then it would turn on again and I would take a number of deep bre...

Re: Shortness of Breath coming off CPAP

QMX..........Randomly increasing oxygen liter flow can be extremely dangerous while treating COPD. Bad idea and always check with your pulmonary physician before ever adjusting the oxygen flow rate. Of course ... always with doctor involvement. Many Docs will recommend to their patients to briefly ...

Re: 10 days on VPAP Adapt (ASV) and I feel awful

I really feel for you. The severity of your fatigue and the feeling that you are "terminal" practically demands the need for a skilled diagnostician. I am not at all sure that you can begin to get ahead of these problems without one. Repeated visits to a useless PCP appear to be getting you nowhere....
